Philippines ‘a war zone in disguise’ says US NGO report

MANILA, Philippines---"A war zone in disguise." This was how a U.S.-based non-government organization (NGO) described the Philippines in 2018, citing the rampant killings of civilians due to the alleged "lethality" of President Rodrigo Duterte's crackdown on illegal drugs. According to Armed Conflict Location and Event Data (ACLED) Project's Year In Review: 2018 report, which was posted in its website last Jan. 11, more civilians were killed in the Philippines in the past year than in conflicted-countries like Iraq, Somalia, or the Democratic Republic of Congo. Singapore Airlines warns of phishing scam promising free plane tickets

  SINGAPORE --- Free Singapore Airlines (SIA) tickets by clicking on a link? Probably too good to be true. SIA warned customers in a Facebook post yesterday that a website masquerading as its own was offering free tickets while asking for personal data. "We... would like to advise customers to exercise discretion when revealing personal data to unverified sources," SIA said in its post. An SIA spokesman said the airline is currently working with its security vendor to have the phishing site taken down. MANILA, Philippines--E-retailer Promo Shopping Bazaar has a bizarre way of promoting its products--peddling fake contents. The website, which plugs its merchandise on its Facebook page, says it sells books online. But it looks like the shop employs a marketing strategy that is twisted. In its bid to sell its e-book Universal Beauty, supposedly authored by newly-crowned Miss Universe Catriona Gray, Promo Shopping Bazaar placed 10 ads on Facebook.
