De La Salle University weathered Bryan Bagunas' scorching scoring display to complete a morale-boosting upset win over National University in the Premier Volleyball League Season 2 Collegiate Conference. The Green Spikers handed the Bulldogs their first loss that snapped NU's five-game romp with a four-set, 27-25, 27-25, 17-25, 25-17, victory Wednesday at the FilOil Flying V Centre in San Juan. The trio of Cris Dumago, Geraint Bacon and John David Inocentes led the way for the Taft-based squad's second win in six games that kept DLSU in contention for a Final Four berth. Dumago pounded 15 attacks in his 17-point performance while adding 20 excellent receptions and four digs for the Green Spikers, who snagged the win despite allowing Bagunas to explode with 30 points. Bacon had 15 markers while Inocentes contributed 11 points for DLSU. NU, which gave away 33 points off errors, slid to 5-1 record. Meanwhile, Far Eastern University added more woes to an already eliminated Arellano University, 22-25, 25-20, 25-16, 25-20, while University of the Philippines made short work of College of St. Benilde, 25-21, 25-20, 25-23. NCAA: Light Bombers take down Jr. Altas; LSGH still first

STANDINGS LSGH 6-1 MAPUA 5-2 ARELLANO 4-2 PERPETUAL 4-2 SAN BEDA 3-2 JRU 4-3 SAN SEBASTIAN 3-5 LPU 2-5 LETRAN 1-5 EAC 1-6 Jose Rizal High School is streaking for the first time in the NCAA 94 Men’s Basketball Tournament – and with that, has sent a statement about its contention. Following the lead of breakout player John Amores, the Light Bombers clobbered University of Perpetual Help in the earlygoing before holding on for a well-earned 84-72 win on Tuesday at the Filoil Flying V Centre. Amores tallied 18 points, seven rebounds, and three assists to show the Kalentong-based ballers the way to back-to-back wins – their first in the tournament. Now on a win run, JRU is just right behind powerhouses College of St. Benilde-La Salle Greenhills, Mapua High School, Arellano High School, and San Beda High School in the standings. However, it was Marwin Dionisio who actually got the Light Bombers to a strong start by dropping all but two of his 10 points in the first quarter. He also totalled 12 rebounds just for good measure. Of course, the Junior Altas kept coming, but Amores and Gab Baluyut just did enough to keep them at bay. With the upset loss, Perps dropped to a  tie for third at 4-2. Main man Joshua Gallano struggled with just four points and three rebounds. Meanwhile, CSB-LSGH retained its top spot in the standings by dropping a 32-point hammer on Emilio Aguinaldo College, 103-71. Inand Fornilos turned in his best game of the season with a 26-point, 14-rebound double-double while Joshua David and RC Calimag each chipped in 12 markers for the now 6-1 Junior Blazers. Joel Cagulangan was relatively quiet once more, but was still felt everywhere with his 10 points, seven assists, five rebounds, and three steals. For the 1-6 Brigadiers, JR Ilustrisimo showed the way with 14 points and seven rebounds. Mapua’s Clint Escamis reigns anew in NBTC NCAA 24 Week 5

After getting tripped by San Beda, Mapua has taken flight once again in the 94th Season of the NCAA Juniors Basketball Tournament. Of course, at the controls of the Red Robins ascent is Clint Escamis. The graduating guard averaged 26.5 points, 6.0 rebounds, and 4.5 steals in their back-to-back wins over San Sebastian and EAC. Those numbers were, far and away, the best ones any player had for the week. And so, Escamis now finds himself atop the Week 5 rankings of the Chooks-to-Go/NBTC NCAA 24 – the second time he has been there in the last four weeks. Coming next after him is JRU’s rising star John Amores who fired 27 points, five rebounds, and four assists, in their upset of powerhouse Arellano. Amores, the frontrunner as the league’s Most Improved Player, also made one of the bigger leaps in the rankings by moving from 11th a week ago to second this time around. Rounding out the top five are King Brave Aaron Fermin, Perpetual pillar Joshua Gallano, and LSGH lead guard Joel Cagulangan. From outside the rankings, Mapua’s Jonnel Policarpio pumped in norms of 15.0 points and 13.0 rebounds to place at eighth – sandwiched between teammate Dan Arches and Arellano’s Rom Junsay at sixth and seventh, respectively, as well as LSGH’s RC Calimag and Perpetual’s Emman Galman at ninth, and 10th, respectively. Meanwhile, San Sebastian rookie stud Milo Janao and Lyceum stalwart Mac Guadana suffered big drops and now stand at 15th and 18th, respectively. Here are the complete Week 5 rankings of the Chooks-to-Go/NBTC NCAA 24: 1. Clint Escamis (MU) (2) 2. John Amores (JRU) (11) 3. Aaron Fermin (AU) (4) 4. Joshua Gallano (UPHSD) (13) 5. Joel Cagulangan (CSB) (1) 6. Dan Arches (MU) (8) 7. Rom Junsay (AU) (15) 8. Jonnel Policarpio (MU) (N/A) 9. RC Calimag (LSGH) (N/A) 10. Emman Galman (UPHSD) (N/A) 11. Inand Fornilos (CSB) (6) 12. Joshua David (CSB) (5) 13. Penny Estacio (SBU) (18) 14. Kean Baclaan (SSCR) (16) 15. Milo Janao (SSCR) (3) 16. Paolo Hernandez (MU) (N/A) 17. John Delos Sanos (JRU) (22) 18. Mac Guadana (LPU) (7) 19. Kai Oliva (SBU) (20) 20. Kent Pelipel (SBU) (N/A) 21. Cjay Boado (EAC) (19) 22. John Barba (LPU) (21) 23. JR Ilustrisimo (EAC) (9) 24. CJ Balowa (EAC) (N/A) This year, there will be three separate editions of the NBTC 24 – one for the NCAA, one for the UAAP, and one for the CESAFI – to accommodate the Juniors calendar for the whole year. After all three editions have been completed, a final list composing the top 24 players nationwide will then be chosen to participate in the annual NBTC All-Star Game in March......»»

Antipolo flood didn’t stop these men from posing in their swimsuits

Parts of Antipolo may be flooded due to the tropical storm but these three men still had time to do a photo shoot. They even wore swimwear as they waded through floodwater. The album was posted by John Warren Mabunga on Facebook. He captioned the album with "We just wanna have fun!!! #FLOODSISTER." It looks like they did considering how game they were to pose in knee-high floods. And climbed a gate for that fashion editorial setup. Plus, play Good Samaritan as they pushed a car. Despite the funny shoot, John Warren also placed a disclaimer that they were also saddened by the flooding in their subdivision and told everyone to take care. We hope they got checked...Keep on reading: Antipolo flood didn’t stop these men from posing in their swimsuits.....»»
