3 men drown in Pangasinan over weekend

DAGUPAN CITY --- A rice mill operatoron Sunday(May 6) drowned in a swimming pool in Mangatarem town in Pangasinan province. The body of Lester Fronda, 24, was found at the bottom of a 9-foot deep pool at Manleluag Hot Springs in Barangay Malabobo at about2 p.m., an hour after Fronda took a dip. COA: LRTA neglected P980-M housing for settlers

102-year-old Kalinga master tattooist Apo Whang-od receives top NCCA award

The Kalinga language was recognized by the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) as an important intangible cultural heritage last June 25 in formal ceremonies in Kalinga province in the Cordillera Administrative Region. The local language of the Kalinga people, Kinalinga, was recognized with the marker called "Bantayog-Wika," mounted at Kalinga State University. Bantayog-Wika is a project of the Komisyon ng Wikang Filipino, headed by National Artist for Literature Virgilio Almario, who is also NCCA chair.
