More than 7 out of 10 Filipinos support having a national ID system, a Social Weather Stations (SWS) survey showed. A day after President Rodrigo Duterte signed the law enacting the Philippine System Identification Act (PhilSys Act) on August 6, the SWS said 73 percent of Filipinos supported the proposal of a single ID that may replace the different identification cards that they use. The survey ran from June 27 to 30, 2018, after Congress ratified the then still proposed PhilSys Act.
