LUCENA CITY - The New People's Army (NPA) operating in Quezon province on Tuesday claimed responsibility for the killing of a village chief in San Narciso town. Cleo del Mundo, spokesperson of the NPA Apolonio Mendoza Command, said a rebel hit squad killed Ruben Carabido in the house of his sibling in Barangay Busok-Busokan around noontime Monday. Village chief gunned down in Batangas

SAN PEDRO CITY-A barangay (village) captain was shot dead by motorcycle-riding gunmen in San Juan town in Batangas province barely two months into the village and youth council elections. Mario Sulit, captain of Barangay Hugom, was outside his garage when he was shot around 9 p.m. on Thursday, a report from the Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, Quezon (Calabarzon) police said on Friday. 2 alleged motorcycle thieves slain by cops in Laguna
