Jett Manuel wearing engineer s hard hat in fight vs COVID-19

Jett Manuel is many things - Xavier Stallion, University of the Philippines Fighting Maroon, Mighty Sports-Pilipinas player, Ginebra Gin King, PBA champion, S+A analyst. In the continuing COVID-19 crisis, though, he has found one identity to be most helpful of all - engineer. Manuel, who obtained his civil engineering license in 2017, actually declined a second contract in the PBA and decided to put his focus on their family's logistics company Megacem, Inc. Now, he is serving as its Vice President for Construction. And now, he and Megacem have partnered with WTA Architecture and Design Studio to build emergency quarantine facilities (EQF) in the fight vs COVID-19.         View this post on Instagram                   Megacem Inc. "I openly offered logistical support if they needed it because we have Megacem trucks. It's really a big project and we believe in what they are doing." Indeed, from there, the engineer-athlete and his company went all-out in supporting the EQFs. "It feels very fulfilling for us. This is really a time when people rediscover their humanity," he shared. He then continued, "It's really cool to see a lot of people doing what they can with what they have to help out." According to the effort's website, EQFs are being and will be built for hospitals and institutions that are already at maximum capacity. A total of 51 EQFs are being planned or already under construction in Antipolo, Bulacan, Cavite, Laguna, Makati, Manila, Muntinlupa, Pasay, Quezon City, and Taguig. EQFs could house 15 beds, an external testing box, a sanitation and disinfection area, a changing area, and a nurses' lounge. They cost around PhP 350,000 and take four to five days to put up.
