Manny Pacquiao among possible opponents for Terence Crawford s return to action later this year

Could Manny Pacquiao versus Terence Crawford happen later this year?  It’s a possible scenario, according to Top Rank Boxing head honcho Bob Arum.  The former long-time Pacquiao promoter says he expects Crawford, the reigning WBO Welterweight World Champion to return to action by late-2020 and the Filipino eight-division champion is on the top of the list of possible opponents.  "We're going to have Terence fight in September, or October, period," Arum said in an interview with ESPN’s Steve Kim.  Apart from Pacquiao (62-7-2, 39 KO) however, Arum says other options include the likes of Kell Brook, Yordenis Ugas, or Shawn Porter.  "We're looking to either match him with Pacquiao, Kell Brook, Ugas or Porter." Arum has been discussing the Pacquiao-Crawford matchup a lot as of late, even bringing up the possibility of the fight taking place in the Middle East.  The problem now however, is that the current COVID-19 pandemic has made it hard for venues to commit to major sporting events.  "We're hamstrung because none of these [venues] want to commit to a fight this year because of the coronavirus,” said Arum.  England’s Brook, (39-2, 27 KO) also poses an intriguing matchup for Crawford. The 34-year old is a former IBF Welterweight World Champion. Brook’s only losses have been at the hands of current IBF Welterweight king Errol Spence Jr. and against middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin.  The only problem with Brook, Arum says, is being able to fly the Englishman to the US. "And Kell Brook, if we made [that fight], we couldn't get him here." Porter (30-3-1, 17 KO) is a two-time welterweight world champion, having held the IBF and the WBC titles in his career. Porter’s only losses have come against Spence Jr., Brook, and Keith Thurman.  Ugas (25-4, 12 KO) has won ten of his last eleven bouts, with the only loss coming against Porter in a WBC world title bout. He’s coming off back-to-back wins against Omar Figueroa Jr. and Mike Dallas Jr. .....»»
