Bong Go provides help to micro-entrepreneurs in flood-hit General Santos City
Senator Christopher “Bong” Go continues efforts to help boost the economic recovery of communities affected by calamities and other crises. His team delivered aid to flood-stricken micro-entrepreneurs in General Santos City on Thursday, 14 September. Go’s team held the relief operation at the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) office. Eight small business owners received masks, vitamins, shirts, snacks, and balls for basketball and volleyball while there were also select recipients of shoes from Go. Meanwhile, with the aim of bolstering local communities and nurturing economic recovery, DTI distributed livelihood kits to provide additional support for the recovery of affected micro-businesses. Moreover, Go reiterated his push for the passage of Senate Bill No. 188, which seeks to establish the Department of Disaster Resilience (DDR), The proposed SBN 188 aims to establish a Cabinet-secretary-level department to develop holistic measures for better disaster preparedness. In his video message, Go highlighted that, if established, the DDR would focus on three critical areas: disaster risk reduction, disaster preparedness and response, and recovery and building forward better. By concentrating on these significant aspects, the proposed department aims to improve the country's ability to mitigate risks, effectively respond to disasters, and facilitate a sustainable recovery process for affected communities. As chairperson of the Senate Committee on Health and Demography, Go reached out to residents with health concerns and advised them that they may visit the Malasakit Centers at Dr. Jorge P. Royeca Hospital in the city or South Cotabato Provincial Hospital in nearby Koronadal City. Go principally authored and sponsored Republic Act No. 11463, also known as the Malasakit Centers Act of 2019. The center is a one-stop shop where poor and indigent patients may take advantage of the medical assistance programs offered by the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), Department of Health (DOH), Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office, and Philippine Health Insurance Corporation. To date, there are now 159 Malasakit Centers nationwide. Apart from the Malasakit Centers, Go has also been pushing for the establishment of more Super Health Centers across the country. In General Santos City, two Super Health Centers have been funded to be established. The Super Health Centers offer basic medical services, such as database management, out-patient, birthing, isolation, isolation, diagnostic (laboratory: x-ray, ultrasound), pharmacy, and ambulatory surgical unit. Other available services are eye, ear, nose, and throat (EENT) service, oncology centers, physical therapy and rehabilitation centers, and telemedicine, through which remote diagnosis and treatment of patients are made possible. As vice chairperson of the Senate Committee on Finance, Go has also supported several projects in the province including the construction of roads in Banga, Lake Sebu, Norala, Tantangan, and Surallah; acquisition of a dump truck for the local government of Norala; construction of riverbank protection in Koronadal City and T’boli; installation of street lights in Koronadal City, Norala and Tupi; and the construction of a slaughterhouse in T’boli. On the same day, Go’s team also provided similar assistance to micro-entrepreneurs also affected by heavy rains in Lutayan and Columbio, Sultan Kudarat. Go supervises construction of new Super Health Center in Saguday
On Saturday, 22 April, Chair of the Senate Committee on Health and Demography Senator Christopher “Bong” Go personally inspected the site of a Super Health Center currently under construction in Saguday, Quirino. Go’s visit is part of his ongoing efforts to bring government services closer to communities and promote accessible healthcare services in the grassroots, especially in rural areas. The senator was accompanied by Philippine Charity and Sweepstakes Office Chair Junie Cua and local officials led by Governor Dakila “Dax” Cua, Congresswoman Midy Cua, Saguday Mayor Jerry Pagbilao, and Vice Mayor Ric Cadiente, among others. So gamitin n’yo po ito,” he expressed. Super Health Centers are improved versions of polyclinics that offer basic health services, including database management, out-patient, birthing, isolation, diagnostic (laboratory: x-ray and ultrasound), pharmacy and ambulatory surgical unit. Other available services are eye, ear, nose, and throat (EENT) service, oncology centers, physical therapy and rehabilitation center and telemedicine, where remote diagnosis and treatment of patients will be done. As identified by the Department of Health, other locations for the Super Health Centers in the province are in the towns of Aglipay and Nagtipunan. Through the concerted efforts of lawmakers, adequate funding has been allocated for the establishment of 307 Super Health Centers in 2022 and 322 more in 2023. The senator also highlighted Malasakit Centers nationwide, which are one-stop shops for the government's medical assistance programs. He is the principal author and sponsor of the Malasakit Centers Act that institutionalized the Malasakit Centers program. The 157 centers have so far assisted over seven million particularly poor and indigent patients across the country, according to the DOH. Go then led a relief operation at Lakas Bayan Center in Saguday where he and his team gave away grocery packs, masks, vitamins, snacks, and shirts to 500 struggling residents. They also provided bicycles, cellular phones, shoes, watches, and balls for basketball and volleyball to select beneficiaries. Meanwhile, the Department of Social Welfare and Development extended financial assistance to help the residents with their daily necessities. As Vice Chair of the Senate Committee on Finance, Go also supported several road improvements, construction of a multipurpose building, installation of solar street lights, and acquisition of mini dump trucks in the town. Earlier that day, Go was in the town of Cabarroguis where he joined the 6th Quirino Motorismo event, monitored the operations of the Malasakit Center at Quirino Province Medical Center, and led another relief operation for more indigents. Bong Go reminds public to observe proper hygiene amid typhoid surge
Senator Christopher “Bong” Go has urged Filipinos to be more vigilant and prioritize their health by observing proper hygiene in the wake of an alarming increase in typhoid cases across the country. According to the Department of Health (DOH), at least 17,531 cases of typhoid have been recorded this year. Go, chairperson of the Senate Committee on Health and Demography, expressed his concern for the growing number of typhoid cases and called upon the Filipino people to take immediate action to protect their health and that of their loved ones. Typhoid fever is a highly contagious bacterial infection that primarily spreads through contaminated food and water. Its symptoms, which include high fever, abdominal pain, and severe weakness, can be severe and even life-threatening if left untreated. Therefore, the recent increase in cases is a cause for significant concern, stressed Go. According to the most recent disease surveillance report from DOH, there has been a 38 percent increase in reported cases of the disease from 1 January to 30 September compared to the same period last year, with 12,693 cases. The Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) reported the highest number of cases at 2,861 followed by Northern Mindanao with 1,932 cases, and Mimaropa Region (Mindoro Occidental, Mindoro Oriental, Marinduque, Romblon, and Palawan) with 1,413 cases. Cases in SOCCSKSARGEN (South Cotabato, Cotabato City, North Cotabato, Sultan Kudarat, Sarangani, and General Santos City) increased by 119 percent from 512 cases to 1,123. Central Luzon saw the most significant increase in cases, with a 192 percent increase from 334 cases last year to 975 cases this year. "Typhoid fever is a preventable disease, and it is disheartening to see the numbers continue to rise," Go said, adding "We cannot afford to be complacent when it comes to our health. It is our responsibility to stay informed and practice proper hygiene to prevent the spread of this disease." Go also urged the government and health agencies to intensify their efforts in raising awareness about typhoid prevention, enhancing healthcare services, and implementing strict measures to ensure food and water safety. Go then highlighted the importance of Malasakit Centers and Super Health Centers as crucial components of the country's healthcare system, saying, “As the nation battles the increasing number of typhoid cases, it is essential for Filipinos to be aware of the facilities designed to provide quick and efficient medical services and assistance.” The Malasakit Centers program, a brainchild of Go, serves as a one-stop shop for medical assistance programs. These centers bring together key government agencies to streamline the process of availing medical aid. Tutulungan po kayo sa inyong billing,” said Go. The program was institutionalized through Republic Act No. 11463, which was principally sponsored and authored by Go. To date, there are 159 operational centers that have successfully helped more than seven million Filipinos nationwide. Moreover, the Super Health Centers offer a wide array of medical services, including consultations, and diagnostic tests, among others, ensuring that more Filipinos receive proper medical care close to their homes. Super Health Centers offer database management, out-patient, birthing, isolation, diagnostic (laboratory: x-ray, ultrasound), pharmacy, and ambulatory surgical unit. Other available services are eye, ear, nose, and throat (EENT) service; oncology centers; physical therapy and rehabilitation centers; and telemedicine. Through the collective efforts of fellow lawmakers and local government units, sufficient funds have been allocated under the DOH for 307 Super Health Centers in 2022 and 322 in 2023. "In times like these, we must come together as a nation. Let us be vigilant, look out for one another, and ensure that proper hygiene practices are consistently followed. By working together, we can combat this outbreak and protect the health and well-being of our fellow Filipinos,“ stressed Go. BFAR extends aid to bereaved families, survivors of Bajao de Masinloc incident
The Department of Agriculture-Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources has extended its condolences and immediate assistance to the families of three fishermen who died in a maritime incident off the waters of Bajo de Masinloc in the West Philippine Sea. DA-BFAR National Director Atty. Demosthenes R. Escoto handed the Bureau’s P20,000 cash assistance and food packages to each bereaved family during his visit to the wake of the three fishermen on Thursday night in Calapandayan, Subic in Zambales. “Buong-pusong nakikiramay po ang BFAR sa inyo,” Director Escoto told them during his visit. Escoto said the Bureau will also provide a scholarship for their children’s college education in Fisheries at any state college or university where they are qualified for admission. This covers tuition, monthly stipend, and thesis allowance until they finish the program. Scholars will also be prioritized by the DA-BFAR for employment. The 11 other survivors of the maritime incident each received P2,000 cash aid and food packs from the Bureau. In addition, the DA-BFAR has committed to assist in repairing the vessel that was damaged during the October 2 incident to help the affected fisherfolk resume their livelihood activities. The Bureau will also provide a brand-new 62-footer fiberglass reinforced plastic (FRP) fishing boat to the Subic Commercial Operators Fishing Association Inc. to further equip them in fishing. Delma Morados, the association's vice president, received the award on behalf of the group Thursday night. Escoto told the families that additional livelihood packages such as post-harvest training and equipment would be given to them to help them through the Bureau’s regional office in Central Luzon, headed by Region 3 Regional Director Wilfredo M. Cruz. Go then emphasized the importance of unity and cooperation in the progress of the community. Go also lauded the local government led by Mayor Bartolome Rivera for their service to the community, saying, "Nais kong bigyan ng papuri ang aking mga kapwa lingkod-bayan, sa inyong walang sawang serbisyong ibinibigay sa inyong bayan.” Go extended further support to residents who may need medical assistance from the government. Go mentioned that there are Malasakit Centers in the province that they can reach out to if they need support with their medical-related expenses. A brainchild of Go, the Malasakit Centers program is designed to help ensure that indigent patients have convenient access to the medical assistance programs offered by partner agencies. Go is the principal author and sponsor of Republic Act No. 11463 or the Malasakit Centers Act of 2019, which institutionalized the Malasakit Centers program. Currently, there are 159 operational centers that have assisted more than seven million Filipinos nationwide, according to the Department of Health. In Rizal, the Malasakit Centers are located at Antipolo City Hospital System Annex IV, Casimiro A. Ynares Sr. Memorial Hospital in Rodriguez, Bagong Cainta Municipal Hospital, and Margarito A. Duavit Memorial Hospital in Binangonan. On the same day, Go also personally attended the Super Health Center groundbreaking ceremony in the town. The event was also attended by local officials, including Governor Nina Ricci Ynares, Mayor Rivera, Vice Mayor Jaime Romel Roxas, and Municipal Health Officer Dr. Nyl Jarem Amorsolo, among others. Super Health Centers shall provide convenient access for basic healthcare delivery, offering a wide range of medical services to communities. These Super Health Centers provide services such as database management, outpatient care, birthing facilities, isolation units, diagnostic services (including laboratory, X-ray, and ultrasound), pharmacies, and ambulatory surgical units. Additional services include eye, ear, nose, and throat (EENT) care, oncology centers, physical therapy and rehabilitation centers, as well as telemedicine for remote diagnosis and treatment. Aside from San Mateo, more Super Health Centers are funded across Rizal, including two in Antipolo City and one of each in Binangonan, Jala-Jala, Rodriguez, San Mateo, Taytay, Tanay, Angono, Cainta, and Cardona. Moreover, the senator also shared that he is the principal sponsor and one of the authors of the recently passed Republic Act 11959 or the Regional Specialty Centers Act. The said law mandates the establishment of Regional Specialty Centers within existing DOH regional hospitals. Meanwhile, as an adopted son of CALABARZON, Go assured the residents of his continued support. Go concluded his speech with a call for continued unity and compassion for others, saying "Nawa'y magtuloy-tuloy ang inyong pag-unlad. Nawa'y patuloy tayong magkaisa, magtulungan, at magbayanihan upang maging inspirasyon sa iba't ibang komunidad sa buong bansa.” The post Bong Go honored with Gawad Pagkilala Award at San Mateo’s 451st Founding Anniversary appeared first on Daily Tribune......»»
Bong Go urges more sports funding for grassroots dev’t, facilities, and athletes
Senator Christopher "Bong" Go, chairperson of the Senate Committee on Sports, underscored during a budget hearing on Tuesday, 12 September, the critical role of the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) in promoting sports as a key factor in national development. He emphasized the necessity of adequate funding for both grassroots sports development and the country's participation in international competitions. Go, in his opening statement, expressed his strong belief that sports can serve as a deterrent for the youth against engaging in illegal drugs and other harmful activities. He also mentioned that sports can be a way to continue the campaign against illegal drugs initiated by former president Rodrigo Duterte. “Sabi ko nga, get into sports, stay away from illegal drugs to keep us healthy and fit. The senator also highlighted the recent achievements of the Philippines in the international sports community, including the successful hosting of the 2023 FIBA World Cup. He praised the event organizers and shared his experience participating in a dry-run before the opening, emphasizing that "’pag nandyan po ang disiplina, kaya natin, gugustuhin natin na maging well-organized po tayo." Go likewise underscored the international attention that the Philippines has garnered through its successful hosting of sports events, particularly the FIBA World Cup. The senator then expressed his pride in Gilas Pilipinas for earning a spot in the Olympic Qualifying Tournament. Go also took the opportunity to commend the country’s performance in the Southeast Asian Games. He then extended his well wishes for the upcoming Asian Games scheduled from 25 September to 8 October. However, the senator also hinted at areas for improvement, suggesting that while the country has had successes, there is still work to be done. Go added while stressing the importance of supporting both grassroots and elite sports development. "For this year’s budget, with the support of our Chairman of the Committee on Finance, Senator Sonny Angara, we allocated funding for PSC’s grassroots program and the preparation, training, and participation of our national athletes in international sports competitions," he revealed. The PSC proposed a budget of P3.3 billion for 2024, but the DBM only approved P210 million. This is a reduction of more than 93 percent from the agency’s proposal. Go also touched on the need for proper training facilities for athletes. He mentioned the need for repairs at the Philippine Institute of Sports Multi-Purpose Arena (PhilSports Arena) and comfortable barracks for athletes. Go noticed that the facilities that were presented during the hearing are in bad condition and that they really need to be improved. He urged the government to allocate funds for the construction of comfortable housing for the athletes, instead of spending on flood control projects in areas where there are no people. Talagang kailangan po, the more we should invest sa mga sports facilities natin na sira,” he added. Baka pwede ninyo mapaglaanan ng pondo,” said Go. Meanwhile, he also discussed the National Academy of Sports (NAS) at New Clark City in Capas, Tarlac, established under Republic Act No. 11470 that he authored and co-sponsored, which allows students to train while getting quality secondary education. The law provided for the establishment of the NAS System and Main Campus. The NAS also offers a secondary education program with an integrated special curriculum on sports which was developed in close coordination with PSC and the Department of Education. “Pwede silang mag-training, at the same time, mag-aral. Pwede silang mag-aral, at the same time, mag-training. Wala pong masasakripisyo. 'Yan po ang National Academy of Sports, batas na po at may sariling pasilidad,” he said. The senator then called on the PSC to maximize the facilities at New Clark City, initially used for the 2019 Southeast Asian Games. He also reiterated his support for the establishment of the Philippine Sports Training Center and asked for updates on its status. Go urged his colleagues to fight for a sufficient budget for PSC’s programs to ensure continuous sports development in the country. Bong Go inspects Siniloan isolation facility
Senator Christopher “Bong” Go, the chairperson of the Senate Committee on Health and Demography, personally inspected the isolation facility at the Siniloan Infirmary Hospital in Siniloan, Laguna on Friday, 25 August. Go, also the vice chairperson of the Senate Committee on Finance, has supported the said project during the Duterte administration. The senator, an adopted son of CALABARZON, was also joined by Vice Governor Karen Agapay, Mayor Patrick Go, Vice Mayor Carla Valderrama, and Councilors Carl Anthony Puño, Regie De Jesus, and Councilor Ronald Valeroso, among others. Talagang 'Go cares'," Mayor Go expressed. Go’s visit not only underscored his dedication to serving the Filipino people but also highlighted the critical need to bolster the nation's health sector, particularly in the wake of the devastating effects caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. During the inspection, the senator engaged in conversations with the local officials and even healthcare workers to gain firsthand insights into the challenges faced by the health sector. Go in an interview after his visit. Go has consistently stressed the importance of continuous investments in healthcare infrastructure, personnel, and equipment especially in the community level. He pointed out that the pandemic had exposed vulnerabilities in the health sector and underscored the need for proactive measures to ensure that the country is better equipped to handle future health crises. Through a series of innovative initiatives, including Malasakit Centers, Super Health Centers (SHCs), and Regional Specialty Centers (RSCs), Go underscored his unwavering commitment to ensuring that all Filipinos have access to quality medical assistance and services. Malasakit Centers, a brainchild of Senator Go, act as one-stop shops that consolidate the available medical assistance programs of various government agencies, ensuring that poor and indigent patients can readily access the support they need. Since its inception in 2018, Malasakit Centers have provided invaluable assistance to more than seven million patients, alleviating the financial burdens that often accompany medical treatments. There are currently 158 operational centers nationwide, including those at Laguna Medical Center in Sta. Cruz and San Pablo City General Hospital in San Pablo City. Go is the principal author and sponsor of the Malasakit Centers Act of 2019. Meanwhile, Go’s vision of a more improved healthcare sector extends to the establishment of SHCs, which aim to offer comprehensive healthcare services to communities, especially in underserved areas. Such centers are set to be established in cities such as Calamba, Cabuyao, Sta. Rosa, San Pedro, San Pablo, and Biñan, as well as in the towns of Alaminos, Mabitac, Calauan, Los Baños, and Sta. QC supports renaming two roads after late Sen. Miriam Defensor-Santiago
Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte on Sunday said they welcomed the Senate's approval of a measure renaming Agham and BIR Roads after the late Senator Miriam Defensor-Santiago. With 22 affirmative votes and zero negative votes or abstention, the Senate approved on third and final reading House Bill 7413 seeking to rename the roadways of Agham Road and BIR Road to “Senator Miriam P. Defensor-Santiago Avenue." Santiago, who passed away in September 2016 after a long battle with lung cancer, held various positions in three branches of government. She served as presiding judge of the Quezon City Regional Trial Court and worked as Commissioner of the Bureau of Immigration (BI) and Secretary of the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR). She also served as Senator for three terms. For her “…bold and moral leadership in cleaning up a graft-ridden government agency”, Defensor-Santiago received the Magsaysay Award for Government Service, known as the Asian equivalent of the Nobel Prize, in 1988. Bong Go leads Super Health Center groundbreaking in Tagum City
Senator Christopher “Bong” Go witnessed the groundbreaking ceremony of the Tagum City Super Health Center in Davao del Norte on Thursday, 14 July. The project aims to address the growing healthcare needs of the community and improve the overall healthcare system in the area. The groundbreaking ceremony was also attended by government officials, including Tagum City Mayor Rey Uy, Councilors Ester Angoy, Leo Revita, and Lou Suaybagiuo, among others. Go emphasized the crucial role that such health facilities play in advancing the country's healthcare system. He also highlighted the importance of accessible and quality healthcare services, especially in remote and underserved areas. And it will help decongest the hospital para hindi mapuno... Primary care, checkup pwede dito,” he continued. Super Health Centers are targeted to be built in strategic locations to help far-flung communities and ensure basic health services are accessible to more Filipinos. The centers offer database management, out-patient, birthing, isolation, diagnostic (laboratory: x-ray, ultrasound), pharmacy, and ambulatory surgical unit. Other available services are eye, ear, nose, and throat (EENT) service; oncology centers; physical therapy and rehabilitation center; and telemedicine, which makes remote diagnosis and treatment of patients possible. For Davao Del Norte, Super Health Centers will be constructed in the Island Garden City of Samal, Carmen, Talaingod, and two more in Panabo City as identified by the Department of Health. Through the collective efforts of fellow lawmakers, sufficient funds had been allocated for 307 Super Health Centers in 2022 and 322 in 2023. The DOH, as the lead implementing agency, identifies the strategic areas where they will be constructed. On the same day, Go also led a relief operation for 1,500 struggling residents at the Energy Park gymnasium in coordination with Vice Governor Oyo Uy and other local officials. Go and his team provided grocery packs, masks, vitamins, and snacks to all while the senator also gave away bicycles, mobile phones, shoes, shirts, watches, and balls for basketball and volleyball to select recipients. Meanwhile, the Department of Social Welfare and Development extended financial assistance to qualified beneficiaries. “Para sa mga fellow public servants na andito ngayon, may gusto akong ipaabot na mensahe, a quote that says, ‘I think there is no higher calling in terms of a career than public service, which is a chance to make a difference in people’s lives and improve the world.’ Sa mga public servants, let us continue to make a positive difference sa ating probinsya sa Davao del Norte at sa buong Pilipinas,” Vice Governor Uy said. Maraming salamat, Mr. Malasakit,” he added. Earlier that day, Go witnessed the inauguration of the Sangguniang Panlungsod building. The senator also visited the Tagum City Motorpool where he was able to see the progress of the local government’s Care for School Chair program. The senator lauded the local government of Tagum City for the said initiative, which aims to address the shortage of chairs in public schools. By providing sufficient chairs to public schools, the program not only enhances the student's learning experience but also promotes inclusivity and equality in education, said Go. To further help the province and fellow Davaoenos, Go also supported several projects as vice chair of the Senate Committee on Finance. Among these projects is the rehabilitation of the bypass road and the construction of a dike along the Libuganon River. Bong Go helps struggling Bulakeños in Plaridel town
Senator Christopher “Bong” Go, head of the Senate Committee on Health and Demography, continues to promote better access to public health services through the Malasakit Centers program to ensure that more Filipinos, particularly the poor and indigent, get access to medical assistance they need. In a video message during his team’s relief activity in Plaridel, Bulacan, in coordination with Mayor Jocell Aimee Vistan, on Thursday, 6 July, Go encouraged those with health issues to visit Bulacan Medical Center in Malolos City or in Rogaciano M. Mercado Memorial Hospital in Sta. Maria or in Ospital ng Lungsod ng San Jose del Monte where there are Malasakit Centers that will assist them with their medical-related expenses. A brainchild of Go, the Malasakit Center first opened in Cebu in 2018 and was later institutionalized under Republic Act No. 11463, which the senator principally authored and sponsored. The Act mandates all Department of Health-run hospitals, and Philippine General Hospital in Manila City, to establish their own centers to provide convenient access to medical assistance programs offered by the government. Other public hospitals may also establish their own centers provided they meet a standard set of criteria and they can guarantee the sustainability of their operations. The program has so far assisted over seven million Filipinos since its inception in 2018, according to DOH. Go also highlighted that there will be 15 Super Health Centers in the province which will provide basic health services to Bulakeños. Super Health Centers are medium versions of polyclinics and are bigger than rural health units. The centers offer basic services such as database management, out-patient, birthing, isolation, isolation, diagnostic (laboratory, x-ray, and ultrasound), pharmacy, and ambulatory surgical unit. Other available services are eye, ear, nose, and throat (EENT) service, oncology centers, physical therapy and rehabilitation center, and telemedicine, which makes possible remote diagnosis and treatment of patients. Held at the municipal hall, Go’s team provided assistance to 49 struggling residents, such as masks, snacks, vitamins, and shirts. They likewise gave away balls for basketball and volleyball to select individuals. A selected beneficiary likewise received a new pair of shoes. More so, the Department of Social Welfare and Development then provided financial assistance to each beneficiary. To further improve the delivery of public service in the province, Go, who serves as Vice Chair of the Senate Committee on Finance, supported several initiatives, such as the rehabilitation of the Bulacan State University Activity Center and the construction of a multipurpose building in Malolos City, construction of drainages, provision of medical equipment for local hospitals, improvement of the Pandi District Hospital, concreting of a farm-to-market road in San Ildefonso and many more. On 3 July, Go personally visited the town of Bulakan, where he assisted 1,000 more indigents and inspected the town’s Super Health Center. Simultaneously, Go’s team extended the same relief to more disadvantaged residents in Bocaue City. The post Bong Go helps struggling Bulakeños in Plaridel town appeared first on Daily Tribune......»»

By bringing essential medical services closer to their doorstep, the facility aims to ensure that the population has easy access to the healthcare they require, according to Go. Bong Go lauds PBBM’s first year accomplishments
Sen. Bong Go expressed his support for the leadership of President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos, Jr. given the administration’s performance during its first year in office. “So far, so good naman po. Go said in an interview after his team distributed assistance to the residents of Hagonoy in Davao del Sur on Saturday, 1 July. Go then stressed that the Marcos administration must continue to strengthen efforts to uplift the lives of poor Filipinos, as outlined in the Philippine Development Plan 2023-2028, which is considered to be the country’s roadmap towards full and inclusive economic transformation. Tulungan po natin sila,” he said. Go then recognized the significance of building upon the strong foundations laid by former president Rodrigo Duterte especially in ensuring the accessibility of medical services for all Filipinos and in providing them a safer and more comfortable life. He then reiterated his commitment to supporting the Marcos administration's legislative priorities, with a particular focus on strengthening the healthcare system. “In fact, as Chair of the Senate Committee on Health, we have recently passed one of his priority measures, the Regional Specialty Centers Bill, which I principally sponsored and is one of the authors in the Senate,” he said, citing Senate Bill No. 2212, otherwise known as the Regional Specialty Centers Act, which was passed before the session break and is now awaiting the approval of the President before it can be enacted into law. The establishment of specialty centers is among the health-related legislative agenda contained in the PDP 2023 to 2028. Go said that being part of a majority bloc in the Senate, he is committed to actively contribute to the enactment of legislative measures that benefit the marginalized sectors of society. “I will continue to support efforts to address the needs of the poor, the hopeless and the helpless sectors of our society by reducing poverty and improving social protection, ensuring food security, and providing safe and resilient communities for our people,” he said. “Rest assured, we will continue working with the current administration in bringing crucial government health services closer to the people,” he added. Poor communities in Balanga City assured of Bong Go’s support
Senator Christopher "Bong" Go took the initiative to visit Balanga City, Bataan on Thursday, 1 June, where he personally led a relief operation to assist disadvantaged families living in the area. Addressing the beneficiaries, the senator emphasized the importance of unity, cooperation, and dedicated service in improving the lives of the Filipino people. "Sa ating pagtulong sa isa't isa, nagbibigay tayo ng pag-asa at nagpapalakas sa ating komunidad,” said Go. Go also underscored his role as a public servant focused on genuine service rather than making empty promises. He called for collaboration among citizens, emphasizing that through collective effort, they could bring hope and strengthen their communities. The relief operation was mounted at the People’s Center in Balanga City where Go and his team assisted a total of 1,008 indigents. They distributed grocery packs, vitamins, masks, shirts, and snacks to the residents. Go also gave away bicycles, mobile phones, shoes, watches, and balls for basketball and volleyball to select beneficiaries. Meanwhile, the Department of Social Welfare and Development extended financial assistance. Continuing his remarks, Go, as Chair of the Senate Committee on Health and Demography, encouraged residents with medical concerns to visit the Malasakit Centers in the province, including those at Bataan General Hospital and Medical Center in the city, and at Mariveles Mental Wellness and General Hospital. An initiative of Go aimed at providing accessible healthcare assistance to all, particularly for poor and indigent patients, the Malasakit Centers are one-stop shops that house concerned agencies with available medical assistance programs, such as the DSWD, Department of Health, Philippine Health Insurance Corporation, and Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office. The Malasakit Centers Act was principally authored and sponsored by Go in 2019. To date, 157 centers have been established and have benefitted over seven million particularly poor and indigent Filipinos nationwide, according to DOH. Likewise, one of the key initiatives mentioned by Go was the establishment of Super Health Centers. He praised the groundbreaking ceremony of a Super Health Center in Samal town which he attended earlier that day and also aided indigents in that town. He revealed plans of the government, in partnership with LGUs and fellow lawmakers, to build similar facilities in other municipalities of Bataan. Such centers would offer basic medical services, including prenatal care and childbirth facilities. As part of his unwavering commitment to bolster the province's development amid crisis situations, Go, who also serves as Vice Chair of the Senate Committee on Finance, likewise supported several projects in the province. These include the construction of a drainage canal in Abucay and Dinalupihan; the construction of Orani District Hospital with 150-bed capacity; construction of multipurpose buildings in Bagac, Balanga City, Dinalupihan, Hermosa, Limay, Orion and Pilar; acquisition of ambulance units in Pilar and Samal; and construction of a slaughterhouse in Hermosa. He then recognized local officials for their untiring service. Among them were 3rd District Bataan Representative Gila Garcia, Governor Joet Garcia, Balanga City Vice Mayor Vianca Gozon, among others. Drawing inspiration from the Filipino spirit of bayanihan, Go encouraged everyone to continue embodying solidarity and compassion. Bong Go attends inauguration of SHC, joins Sarakat Festival festivities in Cagayan
Senator Bong Go continues efforts to help bring public health services closer to communities in far-flung areas as he traveled north of the country to personally attend the inauguration of the Super Health Center in Santa Praxedes, Cagayan on Thursday, 18 May. Accompanied by local officials, including Vice Governor Melvin “Boy” Vargas Jr., Sta. Praxedes Mayor Esterlina Aguinaldo and acting Vice Mayor Gil Buenavista, among others, the senator reaffirmed his unwavering commitment to improving access to basic healthcare for those who need government attention the most. Through the collective efforts of fellow lawmakers, sufficient funds had been allocated for 307 Super Health Centers in 2022 and 322 in 2023. DOH, the lead implementing agency, identifies the strategic areas where they will be constructed. “Pwede i-expand yan ng LGU pagdating ng panahon. Kung gusto niyong lagyan ng dialysis machine, pwede po lagyan ng dialysis center,” he explained, adding that these centers will be turned over to and managed by the LGU upon construction. Apart from Sta. Praxedes, the DOH also identified other areas in Cagayan province where more Super Health Centers will be established, including Peñablanca, Sta. Teresita, Buguey, Aparri, Sto. Niño, Tuao, and Lal-lo — the last one’s groundbreaking having been personally attended by Go later that day. Go also encouraged the public to take advantage of the services offered in the Malasakit Center located at Cagayan Valley Medical Center in Tuguegarao City. Go, who principally authored and sponsored Republic Act No. 11463. Following the inauguration, Go joined the celebration of the Sarakat Festival at the municipal hall grounds. The Sarakat Festival is the annual celebration in Sta. Praxedes, commencing the feast of the patron saint of the town, St. Isidore de Labrador. During the festival, Go was honored as an adopted son of Sta. Praxedes. The resolution adopted by the Sangguniang Bayan on 8 May 2023 stated that Go “has been consistently giving various kinds of assistance to the Local Government Unit of Sta. Praxedes for the past few years.” Praxedes. Ituring niyo po ako bilang isang kuya niyo, bilang kapatid niyo ho dito,” he said. The senator also led a relief operation at the municipal gymnasium for 1,500 indigents. Go and his team distributed grocery packs, masks, vitamins, snacks, and shirts while they also gave away bicycles, mobile phones, shoes, watches, and balls for basketball and volleyball to select recipients. Go, as Vice Chair of the Senate Committee on Finance, likewise maintained that he will continue to contribute to the town’s progress as he earlier supported the construction of embankment protection, flood control, and slope protection structures. He also supported the acquisition of a dump truck for the community. After the event, the senator headed to Lal-lo where he witnessed the groundbreaking of another Super Health Center and also led another relief operation to more disadvantaged residents. CCC, Paete LGU partner for climate resiliency, sustainability
The Climate Change Commission continues to work with local government units in a collective effort to address climate change and work toward a more resilient and sustainable future for the Philippines. The CCC welcomed the local government of Paete, Laguna’s submission of the Local Climate Change Action Plan for 2021-2026 and Annual Investment Program for 2023, which were personally handed over by Paete Mayor Ronald B. Cosico. The LCCAP outlines the LGU's strategies and actions to address climate change impacts on their community, infrastructure and economy, while the AIP contains the programs, activities and projects of the LGU, including on climate action. The CCC commended the Paete LGU for submitting its LCCAP and AIP and will further collaborate with the town in enhancing its plans and programs to make them aligned with the national framework and international commitments on climate resilience. The CCC will continue to support Paete in the implementation of actions on climate change to ensure the well-being not only of Paete but also of the entire country),” said CCC vice chairperson and executive director Robert E.A. Borje. According to Cosico, the submission of the LCCAP is a significant milestone for the town as it demonstrates the LGU's commitment to protect and enhance the well-being of its constituents. Through the LCCAP, we can do concrete steps to adapt and mitigate its effects)," he said. Paete is one of the LGUs in the Philippines regularly affected by climate change impacts such as typhoons, flooding and landslides. By submitting its LCCAP to the CCC, the LGU is now eligible for various technical and financial assistance, including access to the People's Survival Fund. The PSF is a domestic funding mechanism that supports the implementation of climate resilience and adaptation programs of local communities in various areas such as agriculture, water resource management and disaster risk reduction and management. Cosico shared the ongoing initiatives and best practices of the town in climate resilience, including reforestation, sustainable agriculture and investment in renewable energy. Paete was among the awardees of the Seal of Good Local Governance in 2019. To further boost its local climate change initiatives, the CCC will connect Paete LGU with relevant development partners. The CCC will work with the local government to create a climate-resilient, climate-smart and sustainable community in Paete, which can serve as a model for other LGUs in the country. The LCCAP is a key deliverable of the LGUs to the CCC, as mandated by Republic Act 9729 or the Climate Change Act, and Department of Interior and Local Government Memorandum Circular No. 2021-068. The CCC endeavors to enable all LGUs in the country to develop, implement and enhance LCCAPs that address the specific climate change risks facing their communities. As of 17 April 2023, 82.57 percent or 1,416 out of 1,715 LGUs in the country have already submitted their LCCAPs to the CCC. Visit www.climate.gov.ph and www.facebook.com/CCCPHL. Bong Go attends SK Congress 2023 in Davao City
In a bid to support the country’s young leaders, Senator Bong Go personally attended the 2023 Sangguniang Kabataan Congress - Davao Occidental Chapter at the Ritz Hotel in Davao City on Thursday, 4 May. In his speech, the senator took the opportunity to emphasize the importance of empowering the youth in shaping the nation's future and highlighted the critical role that the SK plays in bridging the gap between the government and the youth. Additionally, Go recognized all SK leaders for their dedication to public service and encouraged them to continue taking an active role in nation-building. He stressed that the youth are not just the future but also the present, urging them to use their voice and leadership to contribute meaningfully to society. To promote the welfare of youth leaders, the senator co-authored Republic Act No. 11768, reforming the Sangguniang Kabataan and provides for monthly honoraria and other benefits for SK leaders. Under the Act, all members of the SK will be paid an honorarium each month that will be deducted from the SK funds. This is in addition to any other compensation provided by law. The honorarium must be given at the conclusion of each SK meeting every month. Meanwhile, 10% of the general fund of barangays must be allocated for their SK. The funds, which will be used for youth development and empowerment programs, must be paid in a lump sum by the Sangguniang Barangay. In 2022, Go supported the postponement of the barangay and SK elections to 2023. It's an honor to die while serving your fellow men. Ending his remarks, Go reiterated his dedication to championing the welfare and interests of the Filipino youth, encouraging them to become catalysts for positive change in their communities and the nation as a whole. Someday, magiging konsehal kayo sa inyong munisipyo or even congressman sa inyong lugar. Earlier that day, Go also attended the 49th Midyear Convention Surgery and Universal Health Care opening ceremony at SMX Convention Center in Davao City. Bong Go advocates for the creation of DDR
Sen. Bong Go renewed his call for the passage of Senate Bill No. 188, or his proposed Disaster Resilience bill. The proposed legislation aims to create the Department of Disaster Resilience, a specialized department that would be solely responsible for managing the country's disaster response and mitigation efforts. Go highlighted that if the bill is enacted, the cabinet secretary-level department shall concentrate on three significant areas, such as disaster risk reduction, disaster preparedness and response, and recovery and building forward better. To support the DDR’s functions and responsibilities, the proposed measure also provides for the creation of an Integrated Disaster Resilience Information System (IDRIS) which will serve as a database of all relevant disaster risk reduction and climate change information.
