On the 451st Founding Anniversary of San Mateo, Rizal, Senator Christopher "Bong" Go was honored with the Gawad Pagkilala Award at the Municipal Stadium on September 21, in recognition of his significant contributions to the community. Go then emphasized the importance of unity and cooperation in the progress of the community. Go also lauded the local government led by Mayor Bartolome Rivera for their service to the community, saying, "Nais kong bigyan ng papuri ang aking mga kapwa lingkod-bayan, sa inyong walang sawang serbisyong ibinibigay sa inyong bayan.” Go extended further support to residents who may need medical assistance from the government. Go mentioned that there are Malasakit Centers in the province that they can reach out to if they need support with their medical-related expenses. A brainchild of Go, the Malasakit Centers program is designed to help ensure that indigent patients have convenient access to the medical assistance programs offered by partner agencies. Go is the principal author and sponsor of Republic Act No. 11463 or the Malasakit Centers Act of 2019, which institutionalized the Malasakit Centers program. Currently, there are 159 operational centers that have assisted more than seven million Filipinos nationwide, according to the Department of Health. In Rizal, the Malasakit Centers are located at Antipolo City Hospital System Annex IV, Casimiro A. Ynares Sr. Memorial Hospital in Rodriguez, Bagong Cainta Municipal Hospital, and Margarito A. Duavit Memorial Hospital in Binangonan. On the same day, Go also personally attended the Super Health Center groundbreaking ceremony in the town. The event was also attended by local officials, including Governor Nina Ricci Ynares, Mayor Rivera, Vice Mayor Jaime Romel Roxas, and Municipal Health Officer Dr. Nyl Jarem Amorsolo, among others. Super Health Centers shall provide convenient access for basic healthcare delivery, offering a wide range of medical services to communities. These Super Health Centers provide services such as database management, outpatient care, birthing facilities, isolation units, diagnostic services (including laboratory, X-ray, and ultrasound), pharmacies, and ambulatory surgical units. Additional services include eye, ear, nose, and throat (EENT) care, oncology centers, physical therapy and rehabilitation centers, as well as telemedicine for remote diagnosis and treatment. Aside from San Mateo, more Super Health Centers are funded across Rizal, including two in Antipolo City and one of each in Binangonan, Jala-Jala, Rodriguez, San Mateo, Taytay, Tanay, Angono, Cainta, and Cardona. Moreover, the senator also shared that he is the principal sponsor and one of the authors of the recently passed Republic Act 11959 or the Regional Specialty Centers Act. The said law mandates the establishment of Regional Specialty Centers within existing DOH regional hospitals. Meanwhile, as an adopted son of CALABARZON, Go assured the residents of his continued support. Go concluded his speech with a call for continued unity and compassion for others, saying "Nawa'y magtuloy-tuloy ang inyong pag-unlad. Nawa'y patuloy tayong magkaisa, magtulungan, at magbayanihan upang maging inspirasyon sa iba't ibang komunidad sa buong bansa.” The post Bong Go honored with Gawad Pagkilala Award at San Mateo’s 451st Founding Anniversary appeared first on Daily Tribune......»»
Bong Go provides help to micro-entrepreneurs in flood-hit General Santos City
Senator Christopher “Bong” Go continues efforts to help boost the economic recovery of communities affected by calamities and other crises. His team delivered aid to flood-stricken micro-entrepreneurs in General Santos City on Thursday, 14 September. Go’s team held the relief operation at the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) office. Eight small business owners received masks, vitamins, shirts, snacks, and balls for basketball and volleyball while there were also select recipients of shoes from Go. Meanwhile, with the aim of bolstering local communities and nurturing economic recovery, DTI distributed livelihood kits to provide additional support for the recovery of affected micro-businesses. Moreover, Go reiterated his push for the passage of Senate Bill No. 188, which seeks to establish the Department of Disaster Resilience (DDR), The proposed SBN 188 aims to establish a Cabinet-secretary-level department to develop holistic measures for better disaster preparedness. In his video message, Go highlighted that, if established, the DDR would focus on three critical areas: disaster risk reduction, disaster preparedness and response, and recovery and building forward better. By concentrating on these significant aspects, the proposed department aims to improve the country's ability to mitigate risks, effectively respond to disasters, and facilitate a sustainable recovery process for affected communities. As chairperson of the Senate Committee on Health and Demography, Go reached out to residents with health concerns and advised them that they may visit the Malasakit Centers at Dr. Jorge P. Royeca Hospital in the city or South Cotabato Provincial Hospital in nearby Koronadal City. Go principally authored and sponsored Republic Act No. 11463, also known as the Malasakit Centers Act of 2019. The center is a one-stop shop where poor and indigent patients may take advantage of the medical assistance programs offered by the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), Department of Health (DOH), Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office, and Philippine Health Insurance Corporation. To date, there are now 159 Malasakit Centers nationwide. Apart from the Malasakit Centers, Go has also been pushing for the establishment of more Super Health Centers across the country. The Super Health Centers offer basic medical services, such as database management, out-patient, birthing, isolation, isolation, diagnostic (laboratory: x-ray, ultrasound), pharmacy, and ambulatory surgical unit. Other available services are eye, ear, nose, and throat (EENT) service, oncology centers, physical therapy and rehabilitation centers, and telemedicine, through which remote diagnosis and treatment of patients are made possible. ‘Public office is a public trust,’ Bong Go reminds BSKE candidates
In an interview on Friday, 15 September, after attending the launch of the 159th Malasakit Center in Bislig City, Surigao del Sur, Senator Christopher "Bong" Go discussed the forthcoming 2023 Philippine Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections, underscoring the crucial role of public trust to those who are elected to office. "Public office is a public trust. Kung kayo po ay iluklok dyan, wag nyo pong sayangin ang tiwalang ibinigay sa inyo ng taumbayan," Go said. He stressed that elected officials at the barangay level are the direct point of contact of the public and should not squander the trust given to them. The 2023 Philippine barangay and SK elections are scheduled to be held on 30 October this year. Among those to be elected in the election are the Punong Barangay, seven members of the Sangguniang Barangay, and the SK chairperson in barangays all throughout the country. Go has previously filed Senate Bill No. 197 or the Magna Carta for Barangays, recognizing the critical role of barangay officials in delivering services from the government. "Meron akong nai-refile na SB 197 or the Magna Carta for Barangays," he said. The senator said he understands the challenges faced by barangay officials, having worked closely with former president Rodrigo Duterte when he was still a mayor. The bill proposes that barangay officials, including the Punong Barangay, members of the Sangguniang Barangay, the Sangguniang Kabataan chairperson, the barangay secretary, and the barangay treasurer, receive similar treatment as regular government employees. This means they would be eligible for salaries, benefits, and allowances, among other perks. Go stated, emphasizing that the barangay should automatically receive their share of national taxes. This includes funds for the maintenance of barangay roads and bridges, as well as an increased share from real property tax and other collections. Earlier, Go has co-authored and co-sponsored a Senate bill pushing for the postponement of the December 2022 Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections. In his co-sponsorship speech, he emphasized that officials at barangay and SK levels need adequate time and continuity to implement and uphold the plans they have devised for their respective jurisdictions. Bong Go inspects Siniloan isolation facility
Senator Christopher “Bong” Go, the chairperson of the Senate Committee on Health and Demography, personally inspected the isolation facility at the Siniloan Infirmary Hospital in Siniloan, Laguna on Friday, 25 August. Go, also the vice chairperson of the Senate Committee on Finance, has supported the said project during the Duterte administration. The senator, an adopted son of CALABARZON, was also joined by Vice Governor Karen Agapay, Mayor Patrick Go, Vice Mayor Carla Valderrama, and Councilors Carl Anthony Puño, Regie De Jesus, and Councilor Ronald Valeroso, among others. Talagang 'Go cares'," Mayor Go expressed. Go’s visit not only underscored his dedication to serving the Filipino people but also highlighted the critical need to bolster the nation's health sector, particularly in the wake of the devastating effects caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. During the inspection, the senator engaged in conversations with the local officials and even healthcare workers to gain firsthand insights into the challenges faced by the health sector. Go in an interview after his visit. Go has consistently stressed the importance of continuous investments in healthcare infrastructure, personnel, and equipment especially in the community level. He pointed out that the pandemic had exposed vulnerabilities in the health sector and underscored the need for proactive measures to ensure that the country is better equipped to handle future health crises. Through a series of innovative initiatives, including Malasakit Centers, Super Health Centers (SHCs), and Regional Specialty Centers (RSCs), Go underscored his unwavering commitment to ensuring that all Filipinos have access to quality medical assistance and services. Malasakit Centers, a brainchild of Senator Go, act as one-stop shops that consolidate the available medical assistance programs of various government agencies, ensuring that poor and indigent patients can readily access the support they need. Since its inception in 2018, Malasakit Centers have provided invaluable assistance to more than seven million patients, alleviating the financial burdens that often accompany medical treatments. There are currently 158 operational centers nationwide, including those at Laguna Medical Center in Sta. Cruz and San Pablo City General Hospital in San Pablo City. Go is the principal author and sponsor of the Malasakit Centers Act of 2019. Meanwhile, Go’s vision of a more improved healthcare sector extends to the establishment of SHCs, which aim to offer comprehensive healthcare services to communities, especially in underserved areas. Such centers are set to be established in cities such as Calamba, Cabuyao, Sta. Rosa, San Pedro, San Pablo, and Biñan, as well as in the towns of Alaminos, Mabitac, Calauan, Los Baños, and Sta. Maria. The SHCs will offer a wide range of services, including database management, out-patient, birthing, isolation, diagnostic (laboratory: x-ray and ultrasound), pharmacy, and ambulatory surgical unit. Other available services are eye, ear, nose, and throat (EENT) service, oncology centers, physical therapy and rehabilitation center, and telemedicine, through which remote diagnosis and treatment of patients are made possible. Through the concerted efforts of the Department of Health (DOH) and lawmakers, adequate funding has been allocated in the national budget for the establishment of 307 SHCs in 2022 and 322 more in 2023. Recognizing the need for specialized care, Go has also championed the establishment of Regional Specialty Centers. These centers focus on specific medical fields, ensuring that patients receive expert care without the need to travel long distances to urban centers. In the Senate, Go principally sponsored and is one of the authors of Senate Bill No. 2212, also known as the Regional Specialty Centers Act, which was recently approved and signed by President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos, Jr. into law. It’s a multiyear plan po. Establishing specialty center in every DOH regional hospital all over the country,” he added. On the same day, Go personally inspected the town’s Sports Complex and provided assistance to 500 struggling residents. Bong Go cites crucial role of barangays in nation-building
Emphasizing that empowering the barangays is the foundation of a strong and resilient nation, Senator Christopher “Bong” Go highlighted the indispensable role of barangay leaders in shaping communities and driving progress at the grassroots level in his speech during the Liga ng Barangay of Zamboanga City General Membership Assembly and Barangay Congress held at Makati Palace Hotel on Thursday, 27 July. Go first expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the barangay leaders for their tireless efforts toward uplifting their respective communities. He acknowledged their unwavering dedication and service, which often went unnoticed amidst the larger national issues. Hindi po natin mararating kung asan tayo ngayon kung hindi dahil sa inyong sakripisyo,” said Go. “Ang tema ng pagtitipong ito, ‘Leaving a Legacy in the Barangay, Fulfilling Exemplary Leadership by the Way of Conscientious Governance’ ay napapanahon at napakahalaga. Go emphasized the significance of local governance and how it directly impacts the lives of ordinary citizens. He reiterated that effective governance starts at the grassroots level, and barangay leaders play a pivotal role in fostering a sense of unity, camaraderie, and cooperation among community members. As the senator delved into the challenges faced by barangay leaders, he expressed his commitment to working on legislation that would bolster their capabilities and support their initiatives. Go highlighted the need for increased funding, better resources, and comprehensive training for barangay officials, equipping them to handle the diverse needs of their communities. As a member of the Senate Committee on Local Government, Go is pushing to further empower barangays as the fundamental governing units in communities. He cited that one of his advocacies is to enhance public service delivery and bring the government closer to the people. Go has filed two proposed legislative measures to support and acknowledge the hard work of barangay officials and health workers. The first one, Senate Bill No. 197 or the Magna Carta for Barangays, aims to grant similar treatment to barangay officials as regular government employees. Under the proposed bill, the Punong Barangay, members of the Sangguniang Barangay, the Sangguniang Kabataan chairperson, the barangay secretary, and the barangay treasurer will be eligible to receive salaries, benefits, allowances (such as hazard pay, representation, and transportation allowance), 13th-month pay, and other perks that regular government employees enjoy. The proposed measure also empowers the Sangguniang Barangay to determine the appropriate number of permanent barangay tanods during their administration, with appointed tanods entitled to honoraria, allowances, and other benefits. Go's motivation behind reintroducing the Magna Carta for Barangays is to improve the general welfare of barangays and their residents, elevate the economic and social status of barangay officials, and provide every barangay with the basic facilities for decent, healthy, and comfortable living. “Alam n’yo mga barangay captains, you are superstar in your own right sa inyong lugar. Go's advocacy also extends to the indispensable role of barangay health workers (BHWs) who act as the first point of contact for healthcare in their communities. To ensure fair compensation and benefits for these front liners, he introduced SBN 427, also known as the Barangay Health Workers Compensation. The proposed bill recognizes the invaluable contributions of BHWs in delivering primary healthcare services, raising health awareness, and safeguarding the well-being of the community. It aligns with President Ferdinand Marcos, Jr.’s call to prioritize the welfare of BHWs, especially given their significant contributions during the nation's fight against the COVID-19 pandemic. Go firmly believes that prioritizing such measures will not only acknowledge the crucial role of BHWs but also guarantee fair compensation and adequate protection for them while fulfilling their duties. He lauded the dedication of these health workers, particularly in remote areas, where they play a vital role in providing medical assistance to communities without easy access to doctors. On the same day, Go distributed assistance to disadvantaged students in Biñan City, Laguna, and to fire victims in Cavite City. The groundbreaking ceremony was attended by local officials, including Governor Dorothy Gonzaga, Maco Mayor Arthur Carlos Voltaire Rimando, and Vice Mayor Alvera Veronica Rimando, among others. Senator Go recognized the dedication and hard work of the healthcare workers, acknowledging them as the frontliners who tirelessly serve the community, saying, “Gusto kong pasalamatan ang lahat ng frontliners sa panahon ng pandemya. He then emphasized the importance of accessible and quality healthcare services, particularly in remote and underserved areas like Maco. Super Health Centers are improved versions of polyclinics that offer database management, out-patient, birthing, isolation, diagnostic (laboratory: x-ray, ultrasound), pharmacy, and ambulatory surgical unit. Other available services are eye, ear, nose, and throat (EENT) service; oncology centers; physical therapy and rehabilitation center; and telemedicine, where remote diagnosis and treatment of patients will be done. Through the collective efforts of fellow lawmakers, sufficient funds had been allocated for 307 Super Health Centers in 2022 and 322 in 2023. DOH, the lead implementing agency, identifies the strategic areas where they will be constructed. In 2022, Super Health Centers in Davao de Oro commenced construction in Montevista, Nabunturan, and Mawab. This year, there will be two Super Health Centers in the town, and one of each in Monkayo and Compostela. “‘Lagi akong nakakarinig ng ‘salamat (former) president (Rodrigo Duterte), salamat Senador Bong Go’. Go highlighted. After the groundbreaking, Go briefly inspected a two-story multipurpose building, which he supported as Vice Chair of the Senate Committee on Finance. He likewise supported the construction of revetments in several barangays in Maco. The senator also spearheaded a relief operation at the municipal gymnasium for 1,000 struggling residents. Bong Go attends SK Congress 2023 in Davao City
In a bid to support the country’s young leaders, Senator Bong Go personally attended the 2023 Sangguniang Kabataan Congress - Davao Occidental Chapter at the Ritz Hotel in Davao City on Thursday, 4 May. In his speech, the senator took the opportunity to emphasize the importance of empowering the youth in shaping the nation's future and highlighted the critical role that the SK plays in bridging the gap between the government and the youth. Additionally, Go recognized all SK leaders for their dedication to public service and encouraged them to continue taking an active role in nation-building. He stressed that the youth are not just the future but also the present, urging them to use their voice and leadership to contribute meaningfully to society. To promote the welfare of youth leaders, the senator co-authored Republic Act No. 11768, reforming the Sangguniang Kabataan and provides for monthly honoraria and other benefits for SK leaders. Under the Act, all members of the SK will be paid an honorarium each month that will be deducted from the SK funds. This is in addition to any other compensation provided by law. The honorarium must be given at the conclusion of each SK meeting every month. Meanwhile, 10% of the general fund of barangays must be allocated for their SK. The funds, which will be used for youth development and empowerment programs, must be paid in a lump sum by the Sangguniang Barangay. In 2022, Go supported the postponement of the barangay and SK elections to 2023. It's an honor to die while serving your fellow men. Ending his remarks, Go reiterated his dedication to championing the welfare and interests of the Filipino youth, encouraging them to become catalysts for positive change in their communities and the nation as a whole. Someday, magiging konsehal kayo sa inyong munisipyo or even congressman sa inyong lugar. Earlier that day, Go also attended the 49th Midyear Convention Surgery and Universal Health Care opening ceremony at SMX Convention Center in Davao City. Go supervises construction of new Super Health Center in Saguday
On Saturday, 22 April, Chair of the Senate Committee on Health and Demography Senator Christopher “Bong” Go personally inspected the site of a Super Health Center currently under construction in Saguday, Quirino. Go’s visit is part of his ongoing efforts to bring government services closer to communities and promote accessible healthcare services in the grassroots, especially in rural areas. The senator was accompanied by Philippine Charity and Sweepstakes Office Chair Junie Cua and local officials led by Governor Dakila “Dax” Cua, Congresswoman Midy Cua, Saguday Mayor Jerry Pagbilao, and Vice Mayor Ric Cadiente, among others. So gamitin n’yo po ito,” he expressed. Super Health Centers are improved versions of polyclinics that offer basic health services, including database management, out-patient, birthing, isolation, diagnostic (laboratory: x-ray and ultrasound), pharmacy and ambulatory surgical unit. Other available services are eye, ear, nose, and throat (EENT) service, oncology centers, physical therapy and rehabilitation center and telemedicine, where remote diagnosis and treatment of patients will be done. As identified by the Department of Health, other locations for the Super Health Centers in the province are in the towns of Aglipay and Nagtipunan. Through the concerted efforts of lawmakers, adequate funding has been allocated for the establishment of 307 Super Health Centers in 2022 and 322 more in 2023. The senator also highlighted Malasakit Centers nationwide, which are one-stop shops for the government's medical assistance programs. He is the principal author and sponsor of the Malasakit Centers Act that institutionalized the Malasakit Centers program. The 157 centers have so far assisted over seven million particularly poor and indigent patients across the country, according to the DOH. Go then led a relief operation at Lakas Bayan Center in Saguday where he and his team gave away grocery packs, masks, vitamins, snacks, and shirts to 500 struggling residents. They also provided bicycles, cellular phones, shoes, watches, and balls for basketball and volleyball to select beneficiaries. Meanwhile, the Department of Social Welfare and Development extended financial assistance to help the residents with their daily necessities. As Vice Chair of the Senate Committee on Finance, Go also supported several road improvements, construction of a multipurpose building, installation of solar street lights, and acquisition of mini dump trucks in the town. Earlier that day, Go was in the town of Cabarroguis where he joined the 6th Quirino Motorismo event, monitored the operations of the Malasakit Center at Quirino Province Medical Center, and led another relief operation for more indigents.
