LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. (AP) — Terance Mann hit a go-ahead 3-pointer with 2:30 left in overtime and had 25 points and 14 rebounds for the Los Angeles Clippers, who beat the Oklahoma City Thunder 107-103 Friday night (Saturday morning in the Philippines) in a final seeding game for both teams devoid of stars. The Clippers rested Kawhi Leonard, Paul George and Lou Williams for the playoffs starting next week. They wrapped up the second seed in the Western Conference playoffs with a 124-111 victory over Denver on Wednesday night. “I’m just going to go with rest tonight,” coach Doc Rivers said before the game. Amir Coffey added 21 points for the Clippers while Patrick Patterson had 17 points and 14 rebounds. The Thunder played without Chris Paul (sprained left hand) and Luguentz Dort (sprained right knee). Oklahoma City came into the game locked into a first-round matchup with the Houston Rockets. Hamidou Diallo had 27 points and 11 rebounds and Dennis Schroder 17 points for the Thunder. Mann made a free throw with 1:23 left in regulation to tie it at 87 but missed the second. Kawhi Leonard has 25 points, Clippers rout Rockets 120-105

By KRISTIE RIEKEN AP Sports Writer HOUSTON (AP) — Kawhi Leonard scored 25 points and the Los Angeles Clippers rolled over the Houston Rockets 120-105 on Thursday night for their sixth straight victory. The Rockets were done in by their shooting woes in a game that was billed as a matchup of two of the top teams in the Western Conference, but was a rout almost from the start. Houston had a chance to take the season series and secure the tiebreaker over the Clippers, but the loss left the teams tied 2-2. Houston made just 7 of 42 3-pointers to drop its second straight game in embarrassing fashion after losing to the lowly New York Knicks on Monday night. The Rockets ended their streak of 18 straight games with 10 or more 3-pointers dating to Jan. 20. Russell Westbrook led the Rockets with 29 points and 15 rebounds. James Harden was 4 of 17 and missed all eight 3-pointers he attempted to finish with 16 points. The two stars and most of the other starters on both teams didn't play for much of the fourth quarter with the game out of reach. The Clippers built a 67-44 lead by halftime after a first half where the Rockets made just 2 of 22 3-point attempts. Ivica Zubac added 17 points and 12 assists for Los Angeles and Montrezl Harrell added 19 points and 10 rebounds off the bench. Houston’s shooting woes didn’t end after the break and the Rockets missed 11 of 12 3-pointers in the third quarter, including a couple of air balls. But the Rockets didn’t just struggle from long-range as they also missed several layups in the quarter to leave Los Angeles up 90-65 entering the fourth. TIP-INS Clippers: Patrick Beverley received a flagrant 1 foul for grabbing Harden with both arms from behind on a fast break in the third quarter. ... Paul George had 13 points, nine rebounds and seven assists. Rockets: Eric Gordon left the game in the fourth quarter with knee soreness and did not return. ... Westbrook extended his career-best streak of games with 20 points or more to 32. ... Danuel House Jr. had 14 points. FACE-OFF The Clippers were unhappy early in the fourth quarter when Harrell received a foul on a dunk attempt by Westbrook. Replays showed that Westbrook pressed his left hand into Harrell’s face as he elevated for the shot. But a challenge by Clippers coach Doc Rivers was unsuccessful and the foul call stood. Harrell made a dunk soon after that and patted his head with both hands as he ran back down the court. UP NEXT Clippers: Host the Los Angeles Lakers on Saturday night. Rockets: At Charlotte on Saturday night......»»

Clippers hand Cavs worst home loss in franchise history

STEVE HERRICK Associated Press CLEVELAND (AP) — Lou Williams scored 25 points and the Los Angeles Clippers routed Cleveland 133-92 on Sunday night, the Cavaliers' worst home loss in franchise history. Cleveland's previous worst was a 39-point loss to Chicago in 2012. Paul George had 22 points and Marcus Morris added 10 in his first game with Los Angeles, which led wire-to-wire without star forward Kawhi Leonard. Andre Drummond started in his first game with Cleveland after being acquired from Detroit at the deadline. He scored 19 points and had 14 rebounds in 29 minutes. The Clippers didn't miss Leonard, who was out because of a sore left knee. Morris, acquired from New York at the trade deadline, started in Leonard's spot at power forward and played 22 minutes. The Clippers were obviously angry following an embarrassing 142-115 loss in Minnesota on Saturday. Los Angeles shot 70% percent in the first quarter, making 14 of 20 from the field. Los Angeles' biggest lead was 45 points in the fourth quarter after coach Doc Rivers had given his starters the rest of the night off. Drummond's presence was Cleveland's lone bright spot. He brought the crowd to its feet in the first quarter with a one-handed dunk off a lob pass from Cedi Osman. Drummond also hit two 3-pointers, his career high for a game, and again drew a big ovation. Morris knocked Drummond to the floor with a hard foul as Cleveland's center tried to score in the third quarter. The play was upgraded to a flagrant foul after a review. Drummond's acquisition couldn't stop Cleveland's skid. The Cavaliers have lost 12 straight at home and 13 of 14 overall. Morris' final game with the Knicks came in Cleveland on Feb. 3. He scored 26 points in New York's overtime win. Drummond replaced Tristan Thompson, who has started 48 games. Thompson came off the bench and scored seven points in 19 minutes. Kevin Love had 10 points in 26 minutes. .TIP-INS Clippers: Leonard missed his 13th game of the season. ... G Patrick Beverley (strained right groin) was out for second straight game. ... Los Angeles wore throwback Buffalo Braves uniforms. The franchise played in Buffalo from 1970-78. Cavaliers: Drummond is 3 for 24 on 3-pointers this season. .... WELCOME BACK Clippers assistant Tyronn Lue was the Cavaliers' coach during their 2016 NBA championship season. He returned to Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse for the first time since being fired by Cleveland after six games last season. By JOE ZIEMER Associated Press MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Jordan McLaughlin scored a career-high 24 points, Malik Beasley added 23 in his Minnesota debut and the new-look Timberwolves snapped a 13-game losing streak with a 142-115 victory over the Los Angeles Clippers on Saturday night. Karl-Anthony Towns just missed a triple-double with 22 points, 13 rebounds and nine assists for the Timberwolves, who won for the first time since Jan. 9. McLaughlin added a career-high 11 assists as Minnesota scored its highest point total of the season thanks to a franchise-record 26 3-pointers. Kawhi Leonard scored 29 points and Paul George had 21 for the Clippers, who had a three-game win streak snapped. The Timberwolves turned over more than half their roster before Thursday's trade deadline. Three separate trades Wednesday and Thursday sent out seven players and brought in eight. The most high-profile addition, point guard D'Angelo Russell, did not play. Russell, who was acquired in a trade with Golden State on Thursday, sat out with a right quad contusion. Minnesota still had plenty of shooting. Ten Timberwolves players hit 3s, setting a franchise record. Beasley, who arrived in a four-team trade Wednesday, made a career-high seven 3s. The Timberwolves shot 15 for 25 from 3-point range in the first half and took an 81-59 lead into halftime. The 81 points were a franchise record for points in a half and the most allowed by the Clippers in a half this season. Beasley was 6 for 9 on 3s and scored 20 points in the first half. Minnesota led by as many as 26 points in the second half. Los Angeles didn't get closer than 17. TIP-INS Clippers: Forward Marcus Morris, acquired in a trade with New York on Thursday, did not play. Leonard scores 43 in 3 quarters as Clippers rout Cavaliers

By Joe Reedy, Associated Press LOS ANGELES (AP) — Kawhi Leonard scored a season-high 43 points in three quarters as the Los Angeles Clippers routed the Cleveland Cavaliers 128-103 on Tuesday night (Wednesday, PHL time). According to Sportradar, it was only the second time since 1996 a Clippers player scored at least 40 points in the first three quarters. Lou Williams had 40 against Golden State in a 2018 game. Leonard had 14 points in the second quarter and set a career high for 3s in one period with four as the Clippers broke open the game. The All-Star forward played 29 minutes and was 14 of 22 from the floor and 6 of 10 from beyond the arc. He was two points from tying his regular-season career high. Williams added 24 points for the Clippers, who played again without injured star Paul George. They have won five of six and had six scorers in double figures. Collin Sexton led Cleveland with 25 points and Cedi Osman added 21. Rookie guard Darius Garland, the fifth overall pick in last June's draft, had 14 points and a career-high 10 assists for his first double-double. Osman's 3-pointer gave the Cavs a 34-33 lead with 9:58 remaining in the second quarter before Los Angeles outscored them 33-16 the remainder of the half. The Clippers scored the final 13 points of the first half, including nine from Leonard. He closed the half by intercepting Osman's pass and going down the floor for a dunk while drawing a foul from Garland. Leonard's free throw completed the three-point play to put Los Angels up 66-50 at halftime. The Clippers' largest lead was 36 early in the fourth. THROWBACK NIGHT In a matchup of two franchises celebrating their 50th year, the Clippers wore their Buffalo Braves uniforms. The franchise started in Buffalo before moving to San Diego in 1978 and changing their name to the Clippers. They relocated to Los Angeles in 1984. The Cavaliers donned the uniforms they wore from 1994-2002, which was fitting since it was 1990s Night at Staples Center. ANOTHER LA REUNION Cleveland forward Tristan Thompson gave former coach Tyronn Lue a bearhug on the Clippers sideline before the game. Lue is in his first season as an assistant on Doc Rivers' Clippers staff after he was fired by the Cavaliers six games into last season. The Cavaliers faced LeBron James on Monday night (Tuesday, PHL time) for the third time since he signed with the Los Angeles Lakers during the 2018 offseason. TIP-INS Cavaliers: Kevin Love got the night off with Cleveland playing back-to-back games. Love has played a back-to-back set only once this season. ... Larry Nance Jr. returned to the lineup after missing the past seven games due to left knee soreness. He was scoreless in 19 minutes with three rebounds and four assists. Clippers: George missed his third straight game due to a strained left hamstring. Rivers did not have an update before the game on when the All-Star forward might be back. ... Maurice Harkless had 11 rebounds. UP NEXT Cavaliers: At the Memphis Grizzlies on Friday (Saturday, PHL time). Cleveland won the first meeting 114-107 on Dec. 20 (Dec. 21, PHL time). Clippers: Host the Orlando Magic on Thursday (Friday, PHL time). Los Angeles has won the last 11 in the series......»»
