The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines General Santos International Airport (CAAP-GSIA) Manager Joel Gavina commended Mr. Anselmo Dutaro Rodemio, an airport-accredited taxi driver, for returning a lost wallet containing cash totaling Php 30,000 and bank cards belonging to Mr. Robert Cutamora Laurel, an overseas Filipino worker (OFW). CAAP, Borongan sign MOA to develop Borongan airport
On 13 June 2023, at the CAAP Central Office in Pasay City, the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines and the Borongan city government signed a Memorandum of Agreement for the development of the Borongan Airport, situated in Borongan City, Eastern Samar. Borongan Mayor Jose Ivan Dayan Agda and CAAP Director General Captain Manuel Antonio Tamayo were present for the signing. Recognizing the region's rising need for air travel, the Borongan city government collaborated with CAAP and airlines as the airport began operating commercial flights last year. The city government proposed a comprehensive plan to carry out and finance various development and maintenance projects at the airport, including the construction of a new passenger terminal building and other necessary infrastructure to accommodate more passengers and promote economic growth in the region. In his speech, Tamayo said the MOA is a significant milestone in the partnership between CAAP and the Borongan city government, a "testament to our dedication and joint efforts to improve and develop the airport and would hopefully serve as a blueprint for our continuous cooperation going forward." Agda, for his part, said the development will pave the way for future economic development not just in the city but in the entire Samar region. -----anthony ching----- The post CAAP, Borongan sign MOA to develop Borongan airport appeared first on Daily Tribune......»»
Radar system maintenance successful — CAAP
The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines on Wednesday reported that the corrective maintenance of the country’s radar system on Wednesday was “successful” with no flight disruptions during the activity scheduled from 2 a.m. to 4 a.m. It disclosed that the corrective maintenance at the Philippine Air Traffic Management Center, which seeks to replace the uninterruptible power supply and upgrade the air traffic management system, was finished in an hour and 13 minutes. CAAP also said that no disruptions were reported but it can be recalled that Clark International Airport earlier said four regional flights were affected by the scheduled maintenance while AirAsia Philippines announced the cancellation of six domestic flights and the retiming of two flights set on 17 May. The activity had no impact on flight operations at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport and normal operations resumed at 3:20 a.m. Manila’s Runway 13/31, which enables other means of communication between pilots and the Control Tower, was utilized during the maintenance activity. The Philippine Airlines reported that all its scheduled flights via Manila were able to land and depart during the system maintenance. Meanwhile, CAAP said continuous monitoring and finetuning of the Communications Navigation Surveillance Systems and Air Navigation Service are being undertaken to ensure the unimpeded operations of airports throughout the country. “CAAP extends its appreciation for the understanding and cooperation of various aviation stakeholders, highlighting the importance of seamless air traffic management in compliance to the highest standards of safety and efficiency,” it said.
