Bren coach to NXP: Where’s the ‘new meta’?
Photo from Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Facebook page Bren Esports has already started the word war way before its playoff match against crowd favorite Nexplay Solid in the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Pro League-Philippines (MPL-PH). Bren coach Francis “Duckey” Glindro said that the Group B top seed will sweep the Group A fourth-placer NXP in their best-of-five quarterfinal tussle in the MPL-PH playoffs on October 23. “Gusto n’yo ba real talk? 3-0 definitely for Bren Esports,” said Duckey in the recent Asus ROG Podcast hosted by Dan “Leo” Cubangay on Thursday night. The M1 world champion coach emphasized two reasons why AkosiDogie’s NXP Solid would not make it past Bren. “First one, they don’t have their own identity. ‘Monkey see, monkey do.’ What they see, they do it without realizing (that) the dynamics of their team is different,” said Duckey. “Second point is that majority of their players already reached their mechanic caps. That’s the best that they can perform,” he added. “Ito na ‘yung Taguro isandaang porsyento.” Photo from Nexplay Facebook page Duckey, however, saved Renejay “RENEJAY” Barcarse and Tristan “YAWI” Cabrera from his second point. Meaning to say, he was referring to captain Chester “Chester” Gonzales, Bien “Mb” Esquillo and John Paul “H2wo” Salonga, who had one of the highest KDAs in the regular season. The former EVOS Legends Indonesia mentor even threw some loaded words to Dogie. “Honestly, I don’t really care how much pronouncements Dogie says like, ‘Babaliin namin yung meta.’ I don’t really care man.” “The only thing that matters to me is if you do it. I haven’t seen them do it. And that’s some real talk Dogie.” Bren and NXP already engaged in online banters even before their group stage match, which the black and gold squad easily won. .....»»
Sunsparks sweep BREN Esports to reach Mobile Legends Bang Bang Professional League-Philippines (MPL-PH) Grand Finals
With Jaypee leading the way, Sunsparks swept BREN Esports to march to their second straight SMART Mobile Legends Bang Bang Professional League-Philippines (MPL-PH) Grand Finals, Saturday. After dominating BREN in the opening game of the series, the reigning kings of MPL-PH carried enough momentum in Game Two to hand the league-leaders a 2-0 sweep. The top two squads of the regular season figured in a clash at the top side of the river with Kielvj (Esmeralda) taking down Pheww (Popol and Kupa) to kick-start the blood bath. Though BREN was able to shut Jaypee (Karrie) down in the ensuing play, Greed_ (Selena), Killuash (Xborg), Rafflesia (Lolita), and Kielvj was able to stand their ground even without their hyper carry, killing Ribo (Valir), Lastii (Atlas), and KarlTzy (Wanwan), to completely tighten their grip on the match. BREN tried one last attempt to save the game, but Jaypee and the rest of the men in blue made sure to lock onto the victory en route to their second consecutive finals appearance. “Sobrang synced ng team namin, saka ang ganda ng galaw namin, lahat kami gumagalaw sa team namin na hindi lang sa isa umaasa,” said “Jaypee” Dela Cruz. Jaypee spearheaded Sunsparks’ rally with four kills, six assists, and two deaths while Kielvj displayed another consistent performance with norms of six kills, two assists, and two deaths to send BREN Esports to the lower bracket. KarlTzy, on the other hand, was the lone bright spot for BREN with four kills, two assists, and two deaths. Meanwhile, ONIC PH, who booted out SGD-Omega earlier in the day, ended Execration’s run via a 2-0 sweep to set up a lower bracket final match-up against BREN Esports. ONIC PH team captain OhMyV33NUS (Popol and Kupa) was hailed as the Most Valuable Player in Game Two after finishing with a stat line of two kills and eight assists. Dlar (Uranus) provided four kills and four assists while Wise (Hanzo) had two kills and four assists to deny local MLBB star Z4pnu a shot at the grand finals. Execration, who defeated Blacklist International before facing ONIC PH, tallied only three kills in the match – all coming from Bennyqt (Esmeralda). The lower bracket finale between ONIC PH and BREN Esports will happen Sunday at 6:30 p.m. The winner of the match will take the last seat in the finals and face defending champions Sunsparks at 8:00 p.m. in the grand finals. BREN Esports, Sunsparks advance in Mobile Legends Bang Bang Professional League-Philippines (MPL-PH) Season 5
BREN Esports survived a huge scare while Sunsparks took down its arch-rival to advance to the upper bracket finals of the SMART-Mobile Legends Bang Bang Professional League-Philippines (MPL-PH) Season 5, Friday. Entering the playoffs as the top-ranked team of the regular season, powerhouse BREN Esports found themselves in a tight tussle against fourth-seed Execration. Despite falling behind in the early part of Game One, BREN was able to put up a come-from-behind victory to take a 1-0 advantage which Execration eventually tied in Game Two at 1-all. Ch4knu (Grock) once again proved that he’s built for the big stage, invading BREN’s jungle continuously to give Execration the upper hand in the early minutes of the deciding Game Three. Execration managed to put up a commanding 28,482 gold lead compared to BREN’s 21,403 in the nine-minute mark of the game, while also taking the lead in the kill department with a 10-5 score. With the lord already on Execration’s side, the BREN side composed of KarlTzy (Ling), Ribo (Angela), Lastii (Atlas), Coco (Carmilla), and Pheww (Kaja) was able to put up a huge defensive stand in the middle lane, erasing E2MAX (Selena), Z4pnu (Uranus), Hate (Lancelot), Bennyqt (Helcurt), and Ch4knu through a five-man wipe to even the scales. After winning the clash, BREN slowly took control of the game with KarlTzy leading the way. But Execration did not give up just yet, with both Z4pnu and Ch4knu cutting the lanes to further extend the game. However, BREN got its much-needed separation after Lastii outplayed Execration’s initiation by performing a four-man fatal link, leaving Z4pnu the last man standing while also putting an end to Execration’s tough stand. KarlTzy finished with a monster stat line of 24 kills, 11 assists, and two deaths while Ribo led the supporting cast with three kills and a whopping 28 assists to tow BREN Esports to the upper bracket finals. “Siguro [lamang] lang kami sa disiplina, saka sa decision making at experience na lang din po kaya kami naka-lamang sa kanila,” said Karl “KarlTzy” Nepomuceno moments after their Game Three win. Hate ended up with nine kills, three assists, and eight deaths for the lower bracket-bound Execration. Meanwhile, Sunsparks continued its mastery of ONIC PH, 2-1, to take the second seat in the upper bracket finals. Despite dropping the series opener, the reigning kings of MPL-PH were able to bounce back strong, taking the next two games of the series to send ONIC PH to the lower bracket. Jaypee (Ling) once again led the way for Sunsparks, putting up five kills and four assists with no deaths while Killuash backstopped his hyper carry with two kills and two assists. Sunsparks and BREN Esports will go up against one another in the upper bracket finals tomorrow at 5:00 p.m. Execration will face the winner between BSB and Blacklist International while ONIC PH will wait for the result of the match-up between SGD-Omega and ULVL. Both games will also be played tomorrow at 2:00 p.m. and 3:30 p.m., respectively.
