ICTSI bags South Africa port ops
International Container Terminal Services Inc., or ICTSI, led by businessman Enrique K. Razon Jr., will soon start operating and developing a South African terminal after winning a 25-year deal with a state-run firm. In a report to the Philippine Stock Exchange on Tuesday, the global port operator disclosed that Transnet SOC, Ltd. declared the company as the preferred bidder for the planned joint venture with its unit, Transnet Port Terminals. “Final award is subject to completion of legal agreements between Transnet and ICTSI,” ICTSI said in its report. Durban refurbished Under the agreement, the parties will operate and further develop the flagship Durban Container Terminal Pier 2 at the Port of Durban in South Africa, which handles almost half of the country’s port traffic. Transnet SOC is a government-owned company that owns South Africa’s railway, port, and pipeline infrastructure. DCT Pier 2 is Transnet’s biggest container terminal, handling 72 percent of the Port of Durban’s throughput and 46 percent of South Africa’s port traffic. It has 1,760 meters of operational quay length and 120 hectares of container storage and backup area. Operating 33 terminals in 20 countries across six continents, ICTSI is a global developer, manager and operator of container terminals in the 50,000 to 3.5 million twenty-foot equivalent units per year range. Pilmico bags three awards at the Livestock Philippines 2023
Pilmico Animal Nutrition Corporation (Pilmico), part of the agribusiness subsidiary of the Aboitiz Group, received recognition for its excellence in feed mill and farm operations at the Livestock Philippines 2023 last July 5, 2023, at The World Trade Center in Metro Manila. Pilmico’s feed mills received the “Excellent Performance in Commercial Feedmill for Swine and Poultry,” while Pilmico’s Farms division accepted the “Environment-Friendly Corporation” award for its sustainable practices. Some of their practices include a wastewater management system wherein the farms’ by-products are treated to be recycled, which helps prevent pollution and odors. The event was organized by Informa Markets and supported by the Department of Agriculture (DA). In attendance were President Ferdinand R. Marikina bags financial housekeeping award
The local government of Marikina City was awarded by the Department of the Interior and Local Government with the “Mark of Recognition” for passing the 2022 Good Financial Housekeeping assessment. The agency also awarded the city with a P100,000 check for being the third place among 17 local government units in Metro Manila in the implementation of the Manila Bay Clean-up, Rehabilitation and Preservation Program. Marikina was also commended as the “Most Improved LGU” for the year 2022, according to DILG-Marikina Director Mary Jane Nacario. Mayor Marcelino Teodoro and his wife — Marikina First District Representative Marjorie Ann Teodoro received the awards during the celebration of the city’s 393rd Foundation Anniversary on Monday, 17 April. According to Nacario, the GFH was bestowed to Marikina for its financial transparency and accountability and instituted public reporting of the budget and expenditure of the city government. The DILG-Marikina said the P100,000 reward will be utilized by the city government to maintain order and cleanliness in Marikina. Teodoro, meantime, led the simple celebration of the city’s founding anniversary, together with Vice Mayor Marion Andres, the members of the City Council, officials from various law enforcement agencies, and the local government personnel. Marikina Memorial Day is celebrated every 16 April in commemoration of the city’s founding anniversary in 1630 by the virtue of Proclamation No. 1417. To mark the annual special occasion, a high Mass was celebrated and was followed by the oath-taking of various homeowners associations officiated by Teodoro. In 2019, the city government of Marikina was awarded the Seal of Excellence in Governance from the DILG for sustaining the obstruction-free status of roads and sidewalks.
