Fil-Am Remy Martin of the Arizona State University Sun Devils was very much honored when he learned that he was among seen by Gilas head coach Chot Reyes in the projected roster in the FIBA World Cup in 2023, in which the Philippines was named the host, along with Japan and Indonesia. In an interview by ABS-CBN News' Steve Angeles after the Sun Devils' pulsating 80-77 win over fellow Fil-Am Sedrick Barefield and the University of Utah Utes on Monday (PHL time), Martin was more than pleased with his inclusion on the list.  "It’s a blessing. It’s an honor for me even being mentioned. I thank the people that chose me but I think it’s a complete blessing," Martin said after the game. Martin, who scored 11 points in 28 minutes off the bench against the Utes, applied for a Philippine passport before reaching the age of 16, making him eligible once the country taps him in future international competitions. The 6'0 guard, who has drawn comparisons to Russell Westbrook due to his freakish athleticism, first heard of the news after a loss against the University of Colorado. "I'm humbled by it.
