Relax, reflect and rejoice

WE are hitting week two since the year turned and the rigmarole of life catching up. The waking up to a yearning of coffee, the shoving of self into some fitness regimen, the pulling up of the socks to march into the day and the constant flicking through the beeps, the tweets and the pings from our soul and solace stealing smartphones. Life begins to coil around us like Kaa from Mowgli and take us for a spin while we strive and struggle to keep the train of our lives on track......»»

After a long, bumpy journey, ‘Mowgli’ settles in at Netflix

LOS ANGELES (AP) --- To say Andy Serkis has been through the wringer with his adaptation of Rudyard Kipling's "The Jungle Book" is a bit of an understatement. It was always going to be an ambitious project for a first time director --- dark, intense and more in the spirit of Kipling's stories, with a big studio (Warner Bros.) behind it, a blockbuster budget, A-list talent to match, from Christian Bale to Cate Blanchett, and all the high-pressure stakes that go along with that. But five years ago when he signed up to direct, Serkis didn't know that Walt Disney Studios would soon be announcing its own live-action Jungle Book, which would beat his to theaters by over two years and...Keep on reading: After a long, bumpy journey, ‘Mowgli’ settles in at Netflix.....»»

‘Mowgli’ by Andy Serkis reschedules release for 2019 on Netflix

Andy Serkis' version of "The Jungle Book" has switched platforms and rescheduled its release date for sometime in 2019 on Netflix. "Mowgli" had been scheduled for an Oct. 19, 2018, theatrical release by Warner Bros. after they bumped it from the October 2017 plan. With Netflix's acquisition of the film, "Mowgli" will now debut on the streaming service sometime in 2019, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Serkis' film will be a darker retelling of Rudyard Kipling's classic tale. It will focus more on Mowgli the man cub's relationship with the animals and with the humans. It will be more of an emotional and dramatic piece about connections; the connections between Mowgli and the...Keep on reading: ‘Mowgli’ by Andy Serkis reschedules release for 2019 on Netflix.....»»

(First of two parts) LOS ANGELES---Coming to your neighborhood cineplex this year: "Deadpool," "Aquaman," "Tolkien," "Tomb Raider," "Scarface," "Mowgli," "Fantastic Beasts," "X-Men," Ethan Hunt, "Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom," "Crazy Rich Asians" and more. Modern-day Mowgli: Indian toddler forges bond with monkeys

He is still too young to talk, but a two-year-old Indian boy has become a modern-day Mowgli and a subject of local intrigue after befriending a gang of langur monkeys. Samarth Bangari's unusual friendship was discovered when the youngster was spotted alone in his village in southern India playing with nearly two dozen grey langurs. The infant's uncle Barama Reddy said it was "strange" for the monkeys to behave like that, and villagers feared the boy would be attacked while his parents worked in a nearby field. But it soon became clear they were more than comfortable in his presence, with the youngster happy to share some of his food with the visiting troupe. The monkeys k...Keep on reading: Modern-day Mowgli: Indian toddler forges bond with monkeys.....»»
