LTFRB, DOLE to provide work opportunities for Angkas drivers

With Angkas shuttering its operations in Metro Manila effective this Saturday, November 18, the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) has teamed up with the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) to provide livelihood opportunities for drivers who might find themselves without a job. LTFRB board member Aileen Lizada said that next month they would hold a dialogue with the drivers of the app-based transport service as well as habal-habal drivers to discuss transport issues with them. NBA and Intel announce multiyear technology partnership

NBA press release NEW YORK – The National Basketball Association (NBA) and Intel today announced a multiyear technology partnership making Intel an authorized provider of virtual reality with Intel® True VR technology and 360-degree volumetric video with Intel® freeDTM technology for official NBA broadcast partners globally.   As a part of this partnership, Intel will deliver live VR content for marquee NBA on TNT matchups beginning with NBA All-Star 2018 in Los Angeles. The NBA and Intel will also work together to produce 360-degree volumetric video and will explore other potential collaborations to enhance the creation and delivery of NBA content.   “We are thrilled to partner with Intel to provide virtual reality and 360-degree video content to our fans around the world,” said Jeff Marsilio, NBA vice president, Global Media Distribution. “We are committed to bringing the most innovative and immersive experiences possible to our fans.”    Working with Intel, the NBA will make 360-degree volumetric video available to global league broadcast partners, which collectively deliver games in 215 countries and territories. In the future, Intel plans to integrate Intel freeD technology into the virtual reality experience to enable fans to freeze a moment of game action and view it from the player’s point of view as if they were on the court. 300 iPhone Xs stolen from UPS truck during store delivery

Thieves managed to run off with some 300 brand-new iPhone Xs that were about to be delivered at an Apple Store in Stonestown, San Francisco. The thieves went directly to the UPS truck delivering the gadgets, which was parked outside the store. According to CNET, the police report placed the robbery as taking place on Nov. 1, between 11:15 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. Pacific Time (Nov. 2, 3:15 to 3:30 a.m. Philippine time). The stolen iPhones were estimated to be worth more than $370,000, or about P19 million. Each iPhone X had a suggested retail price of $999, or around P50,000.
