Fernando Zobel’s ‘Saeta 52’ rediscovered—devotional lament for demolished heritage

A very rare work from abstract pioneer and modern master Fernando Zobel's famous "Saeta" series, among those originally exhibited in the legendary Philippine Art Gallery (PAG) in 1958, will be auctioned off by Len Gallery during its Magnificent September Auction on Sept. 8. "Saeta 52," or "Pared Madrilea," signed and dated 1958, bears a certificate of authenticity issued by Zobel's confidante Rafael Perez-Madero. MPBL: Munti tops San Juan in battle of unbeaten teams

Only one between Muntinlupa and San Juan was going to stay spotless at the end of their heavyweight bout in the 2018 Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League Anta-Datu Cup. That only one proved to be the home team Cagers as Allan Mangahas rallied them to a well-earned 77-71 win over the Knights last Wednesday at the Muntinlupa Sports Complex. Mangahas dropped 21 points on top of five assists, four rebounds, and three blocks and was backstopped by Chito Jaime and Dave Moralde who scored 17 and 15 markers, respectively. FAIRFIELD, California -- A man was charged with gross vehicular manslaughter following a crash here Friday, August 10 that killed a Filipino man and a California Highway Patrol officer.
