Sison predicts ‘Yes’ vote to win in Bangsamoro plebiscite

LUCENA CITY---Despite the strong opposition against the Bangsamoro Organic Law (BOL), top communist rebel Jose Maria Sison conceded that the proposed statute would still be ratified in the plebiscite due to President Rodrigo Duterte's alleged coercive influence. "It is highly probable that the Yes vote will win in the plebiscite on BOL because of the advantageous position of Duterte due to the suasive force and effect of martial law, control of the Comelec and putting the PNP (Philippine National Police) in charge of voting in so-called trouble spots," Sison, Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP) founder, said in a statement from Utrecht in the Netherlands Monday. PBA: Romeo could miss another two games for SMB

Looks like Terrence Romeo will be out for San Miguel for a couple more games. In his season debut with the Beermen last Friday, Romeo exited early after suffering an apparent left ankle injury. The official diagnosis is he has a sprained ankle and he’s been advised to give it a rest for a week. The Beermen have two games set for Jan. 25 and Jan. 27 and it appears that the team plans to shut down Romeo at least through the first month of the new year. “Terrence, we don’t know yet dahil we don’t want to aggravate his injury,” head coach Leo Austria said. “I think he will miss two more games siguro,” he added. Romeo has no problem missing the two upcoming games though he is trying to get himself healthy quickly enough to rejoin the Beermen. Still, he’s in no rush in forcing his ankle. “One week rest siguro para sure, yun yung sinabi sakin nung nagpa-check ako. Titignan ko kung aabot sa next game,” Romeo said. “Pero di ko kasi pwedeng madaliin eh. Alam naman ni coach eh, susunod lang ako kung ano gusto nila. Susubukan ko lang na mas mapabilis para makatulong ako sa team,” Terrence added.   — Follow this writer on Twitter, @paullintag8.....»»
