MANILA, Philippines --- Amid a measles outbreak in the capital and other regions of the country, President Rodrigo Duterte has taken a direct hand in the information campaign that seeks to restore the public's confidence in the government's immunization program. In a short message aired over state-run PTV-4 on Friday, Duterte called on the parents to have their children vaccinated to avoid the highly communicable disease. Suspected drug pusher shot dead in Laguna buy-bust

    SAN PEDRO CITY, Philippines -- A suspected drug pusher was killed in a shootout with police during a buy-bust in Lumban town in Laguna province on Friday.   In a text message, Laguna police director Sr. Supt. Eleazar Matta said suspect Jon Jon Elca, a resident of Sta. LONDON --- Prince Philip won't face charges in connection with a car collision that left two women injured, British prosecutors said Thursday. The decision came just days after Buckingham Palace said the 97-year-old royal would stop driving. The husband of Queen Elizabeth II was driving a Land Rover near the royal family's Sandringham estate in eastern England when he smashed into another car on Jan. 17. Fire hits shanties in Laguna

SAN PEDRO CITY --- A fire broke out at a residential community in this city on Thursday evening. Supt. Giovannie Martinez, city police chief, said the fire started around 7 p.m. in Sitio (sub-village) Masayahin, Barangay (Village) San Antonio. The fire was raised to second alarm as firefighters struggled to put out the blaze.
