Philippine Azkals crash out of 2019 AFC Asian Cup

The Philippine Men's National Football Team saw their historic first-ever AFC Asian Cup campaign come to an end after a heartbreaking 1-3 loss to Kyrgyzstan, Wednesday evening in Dubai. Striker Vitalij Lux was the thorn on the Azkals' sides after a magnificent outing that saw him score a hat trick. Lux opened the scoring in the 24th minute, and then doubled up in the 51st minute, putting the Kyrgyz Republic ahead, 2-0. The SSV Ulm star sealed the deal for Kyrgyzstan with an easy follow up goal in the 77th minute for a 3-0 advantage. The Pinoy side wasn't going down without a fight however, as skipper Stephan Schrock recorded the Azkals first AFC Asian Cup goal in the 80th minute to get the Azkals on the scoreboard. Looking for one last run, the Azkals began to push and Patrick Reichelt came close to finding the back of the net again, but ended up going wide right. Ultimately, the Azkals' rally fell short, as Kyrgyzstan held on for the win. The Azkals bow out of the 2019 AFC Asian Cup at the bottom of Group C with three losses in as many matches......»»
