Cainta chief increases cellphone thief’s bounty
Cainta, Rizal municipal administrator Keith Nieto has increased the bounty from P100,000 to P150,000 for the arrest of a thief who stole the iPhone of a basketball player at One Cainta Arena over the weekend. “You even used a telegram app to contact the owner of the iPhone. You thought your sin would be lightened if you returned it to the owner?” Nieto said. “I told you, I’m not interested in getting back what you stole. You are the one I want to meet,” he added. Nieto said he was watching an inter-department basketball league at One Cainta Arena on Thursday when someone asked him to have a picture with him and the suspect has volunteered to take the picture. “Someone wanted to have a picture with me and vice mayor Ace Servillon, but suddenly you volunteered to take a picture of us. You bent down in front of the players’ bench and you were seen picking up the player’s iPhone then you asked for the phone of the person who wanted to have a picture with us, so it was not obvious, but the phone you stole was already at your hand,” Nieto said. “You get out immediately. After the game, the player discovered that his phone was missing. That’s when the three people who saw you spoke,” he added. Beer snatchers face warrantless arrest
Cainta municipal administrator Keith Nieto ordered the police to implement warrantless arrests to individuals who took advantage and have taken away cases of beer that fell from a delivery truck in Junction. A trailer truck carrying cases of beer crashed Tuesday afternoon along Ortigas Extension, Junction (heading towards Tikling), spilling on the road several cases of beer and halting traffic in the area. Nieto said members of the town’s municipal public safety office and local traffic enforcers assigned in the area will be held accountable for their failure to maintain order. “It is their obligation to watch over goods that fall accidentally. Present to me all those who took advantage of the accident. Also the traffic enforcers who are supposed to help secure the liquors,” he said. “There was failure to maintain order in the area immediately after the mishap,” he added. Nieto called on those who took away the beers to return it and bring it to the lobby of the municipal hall until 7:30 p.m. Tuesday. “By 7:30 tonight, I am ordering the entire police team of Cainta to conduct warrantless arrests to all who took advantage and took the goods,” he said. At the start of the opening for this school year, the local government immediately distributed school supplies, including books, to public kindergarten and Grade 1 learners. Cainta Mayor Elen Nieto, however, said the local government does not give school uniforms for now, as she emphasized that the learners can still go to school even without wearing a school uniform. “For me, the non-wearing of school uniform won’t hinder you from going to school. But it will be difficult for you to study if you don’t have school supplies and books,” Nieto said. The post Books before uniforms for Cainta students appeared first on Daily Tribune......»»
FLI debt papers get top PhilRatings grade
The proposed P10-billion bond float of property developer Filinvest Land Inc., or FLI, has been assigned the highest credit ratings and stable outlooks by the Philippine Rating Services Corporation, or PhilRatings. FLI’s proposed bonds, amounting to P10 billion with a P2-billion oversubscription allowance, were assigned an issue credit rating of PRS Aaa. The high rating was also assigned to FLI’s outstanding bonds, totaling P35.4 billion. Proceeds from the issuance will be used for capital expenditures and debt refinancing. “We are delighted to receive a PRS Aaa rating from PhilRatings for our proposed bond issuance. This rating reflects our healthy fundamentals and underscores our constant focus on growth and financial sustainability,” Tristan Las Marias, FLI president and chief executive officer, said. PRS Aaa signifies the highest credit quality with minimal risk. The capacity to meet financial commitment is extremely strong under the grade. Outlook stable PhilRatings also issued a stable outlook on PhilRatings. An outlook gives a glimpse on the direction of any rating change within one year. A Stable outlook means the rating will likely be unchanged in the next 12 months. PhilRatings said it took “into account the following key considerations: FLI’s established brand name and track record, with geographically diverse real estate products and substantial land bank for future expansion; its sound growth strategies; its improved revenues and operating cash flow, supported by more than satisfactory liquidity and interest coverage” for the outlook. For 2023, FLI will launch condominium and housing developments in Antipolo City, Taytay, Angono, Calamba City, Tanauan City, Trece Martires City, Bacoor City, Dumaguete City, and the Island Garden City of Samal. FLI will also accelerate the development of its township projects in East Town in Cainta, Rizal; Timberland Heights in San Mateo, Rizal; Ciudad de Calamba in Calamba City, Laguna, The Wood Estates in Trece Martires City, Cavite, and Palm Estates in Bacolod City, Negros Occidental. FLI’s proposed bonds, amounting to P10 billion with a P2 billion oversubscription option, were assigned an issue credit rating of PRS Aaa. The same PRS Aaa rating was also assigned to FLI’s outstanding bonds, totaling P35.4 billion. Proceeds from these bonds will be used for capital expenditures and debt refinancing. Obligations rated PRS Aaa (the highest rating assigned by PhilRatings) are of the highest quality with minimal credit risk. The obligor’s capacity to meet its financial commitment to the obligation is extremely strong. Each of the ratings was also assigned an Outlook of Stable. Senator Christopher “Bong” Go has once again pushed for the passage of Senate Bill 188, also referred to as the Department of Disaster Resilience Act, which aims to establish a streamlined agency with the primary mission of guaranteeing the development of adaptive, disaster-resilient, and secure communities. In a video message during his team’s relief activity for landslide victims in Antipolo City, Rizal on Friday, 8 September, Go said that recent typhoons serve as a grim reminder of the constant threats posed by natural disasters to communities. “We need to be better equipped and prepared to face these challenges. Cainta sets up hospital burn ward
The local government of Cainta, Rizal has set up a burn ward for the LGU-run hospital so that fire victims who sustain serious burns no longer need to go to big hospitals. “We set up a burn ward in our hospital so that there’s no need for our fire victims to be taken to big hospitals. We have two patients in the burn ward now. There was a fire in Brookside last week. They both sustained second-degree burns,” Cainta municipal administrator Keith Nieto said. Nieto said Cainta Municipal Hospital’s plastic surgeon advised him to rent a dermatone skin grafter for the debridement of the patients’ wounds. “I was shocked. The rent is P33,500 every use, and it will be used every 2 to 3 days. And where do the patients, the fire victims, get the money to pay for it?” he said. “We just inquired how much the unit is, and then I decided to buy so that we don’t have to rent anymore and we can use something in this kind of situation,” the municipal administrator added. Nieto also said that the hospital’s new 16 slice CT Scan has already arrived. “Just a little paper, it’s ready to go. I’m just making sure that this is free to all patients,” he said. “That’s why they come to us because they don’t have enough money to pay. That’s the most important thing,” he added.
