‘Urduja’ likely to become storm; LPA before Christmas looms

    The Office of Civil Defense (OCD) on Wednesday said that Tropical Depression "Urduja" is likely to become a storm as it makes it landfall on either Friday evening or early Saturday morning, as it urged the public to make the necessary precaution.     OCD administrator Ricardo Jalad also said in a news conference that the state weather bureau has monitored a low pressure area that could likely enter the country's area of responsibility shortly before Christmas Day. Budding storm ‘Paolo’ threatens Philippines

  The state weather bureau on Monday said it is tracking a new tropical cyclone near the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR).   Weather forecaster Gener Quitlong said the tropical depression was not having any direct effect on the country as of posting time Monday morning. Marikina River rises to 17.3 meters; second alarm raised

Due to the heavy downpour of rain caused by Tropical Depression "Josie," the Marikina River spilling level reached the 17-meter markon Sundaymorning. The local government of Marikina City has raised the alert level to second alarm as the river's water level reached 17.3 at8 a.m. Local authorities have started to ask its residents to leave their homes and evacuate to designated centers; however, forced evacuation is not yet in place. According to the policy, the local government of Marikina would only declare a forced evacuation once it reached its third alarm or 18.0 meters.
