‘Urduja’ likely to become storm; LPA before Christmas looms

    The Office of Civil Defense (OCD) on Wednesday said that Tropical Depression "Urduja" is likely to become a storm as it makes it landfall on either Friday evening or early Saturday morning, as it urged the public to make the necessary precaution.     OCD administrator Ricardo Jalad also said in a news conference that the state weather bureau has monitored a low pressure area that could likely enter the country's area of responsibility shortly before Christmas Day. 3 dead, 3 missing in Northern Samar landslide

TACLOBAN CITY--- A man and his two children were buried during a landslide in a remote village in Lope de Vega, Northern Samar on Friday. Killed were Eddie Panao, 36; and his two children, Edmond, 15; and Mea, 14; all residents of Barangay Henanoragan. Lt. Col.Apollo Herrera, commanding officer of the 43rd Infantry Battalion based in Lope de Vega, said the victims' bodies were recovered on Saturday morning by the villagers. Meanwhile, three persons from Victoria town, also in Northern Samar, were also reported missing, according to Herrera. Budding storm ‘Paolo’ threatens Philippines

  The state weather bureau on Monday said it is tracking a new tropical cyclone near the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR).   Weather forecaster Gener Quitlong said the tropical depression was not having any direct effect on the country as of posting time Monday morning.
