Man believed to have died falling down stairs poisoned by wife with eye drops

Over a month after Steven Clayton's funeral was held in his backyard, his wife, Lana Sue Clayton, was arrested for his murder. Steven, 64, was found dead last July 21 on the foyer of his Greek Revival-style house overlooking Lake Wylie in South Carolina, reports the Washington Post. It had been thought that he died from a tumble down the stairs until results of his autopsy arrived. On Aug. 31, Lana Sue, 52, was charged with killing him after his autopsy showed a high amount of tetrahydrozoline, which is found in nasal decongestant sprays and eye drops. The chemical relieves eye redness. BPI 6-mo. profit down 5.7%

Ayala-led Bank of the Philippine Islands posted a 5.7-percent drop in first semester net profit to P11.03 billion due to the decline in its treasury, trust and investment management businesses. Six-month net interest income expanded by 11.5 percent year-on-year to P26.21 billion given an increase in the loan book and an improvement in net interest margin (NIM). In a statement, BPI reported that average asset base grew by 9.3 percent while NIM improved by 8 basis points. Interest income from loans grew by 21.1 percent year-on-year, driven by a 16-basis point improvement in loan yields.
