Aaron Carter, under substances taken and inhaled, drowned in bathtub
Singer and rapper Aaron Carter died of accidental drowning in his bathtub after taking sedatives and inhaling gas, according to a coroner’s report released on Tuesday. Carter was in the bathtub of his home in Lancaster, California, on 5 November, said the autopsy report from the Los Angeles County medical examiner-coroner. He was 34. He was found to have taken alprazolam, often sold under the brand name Xanax, which is prescribed for anxiety and panic disorder. Also found in his system was compressed gas difluoroethane, which is “a gas commonly used as a propellant in air spray cleaners” that “can induce feelings of euphoria when inhaled. The two substances incapacitated Carter enough to cause him to drown, the report said. Carter is the younger brother of the Backstreet Boys’ Nick Carter. He was a former child star and pop star whose greatest hits included “I Want Candy, Aaron’s Party (Come Get It)” and “That’s How I Beat Shaq.” But he had encountered financial and substance abuse troubles in his life.
