Senator Christopher “Bong” Go provided assistance to 22 fire-hit households in Barangay Calingatngan, Borongan City, Eastern Samar on Tuesday, 26 September. In coordination with Calingatngan Barangay Captain Edwin Anasarias, the affected families received financial assistance, grocery packs, clean drinking water, snacks, and shirts from the senator. Select recipients also received shoes, mobile phones, and balls for basketball and volleyball. Meanwhile, the Department of Trade and Industry and the National Housing Authority conducted their respective assessments wherein qualified recipients may receive necessary livelihood support and housing assistance, respectively. “Huwag po kayong mawalan ng pag-asa, ang importante ay buhay kayo. Ang gamit po ay napapalitan, ang pera ay kikitain pero ang pera ay hindi nabibili ang buhay. A lost life is a lost life forever. Kaya pangalagaan natin ang buhay na binigay sa atin ng Panginoon,” Go said in a video message. Go then highlighted Republic Act No. 11589, also known as the Bureau of Fire (BFP) Protection Modernization Act of 2021. The said law, which was authored and co-sponsored by Go, mandates the BFP to undergo a ten-year modernization program that will improve the capabilities of the agency by implementing a ten-year modernization program, which includes recruiting more firefighters, acquiring new fire equipment, and developing specialized training, among others. Go, chairperson of the Senate Committee on Health and Demography, also encouraged residents with health concerns to seek the services of the Malasakit Center located at Eastern Samar Provincial Hospital in the city. Designed to assist poor and indigent Filipinos, the Malasakit Center is a one-stop shop where all relevant agencies are brought together under one roof to ensure that medical assistance programs are within the patients’ reach. The Malasakit Centers Act of 2019, principally sponsored and authored by Go, has successfully assisted more than three million Filipinos with 159 operational centers nationwide. Bong Go urges DOH to intensify info drive on health programs
Senator Christopher "Bong" Go has made an urgent appeal to the Department of Health (DOH) to intensify its information dissemination efforts in light of a recent national survey, which showed that most Filipinos are unaware of the various health programs intended to benefit them. The survey, conducted by data analytics firm Capstone-Intel Corp., found that while 83 percent of the 1,205 participants were aware of DOH's functions, only 50 percent were aware of the government's HIV/AIDS programs. Awareness levels for other programs like Universal Health Care, National Tuberculosis Control, and mental health were even lower, ranging from 28 to 45 percent. Go, who has been an advocate for better access to healthcare services, urged DOH to take these findings seriously. "The lack of awareness is a reflection of lives that could be at risk. We need to step up our information campaigns, especially in far-flung areas," said Go. “Lagi nating tandaan na ang katumbas ng kalusugan ay buhay ng bawat Pilipino! Tayong mga nasa gobyerno, ilapit natin ang serbisyo sa mga taong nangangailangan nito lalo na pagdating sa kanilang kalusugan,” he stressed further. Go emphasized the importance of utilizing various platforms, including social media, to reach a wider audience. "We need to be where the people are. Gamitin natin ang teknolohiya at gawing abot-kamay sa lahat ang impormasyon tungkol sa ating health programs," he suggested. Go also stressed the need for collaboration with local government units (LGUs) to ensure that information reaches even the most remote areas. "Mahalaga ang papel ng mga LGU sa pagpapalaganap ng impormasyon. They are our partners in making sure that every Filipino is aware of the health services available to them," he said. “Bukod sa impormasyon, dapat ilapit natin talaga ang serbisyo at tulong, kasama na dyan ang gamot, konsultasyon, primary care at early detection of diseases sa mga komunidad,” he added. Meanwhile, the senator also highlighted his ongoing efforts to bring services closer to the people through initiatives like Malasakit Centers, Super Health Centers, and Regional Specialty Centers. Malasakit Centers bring together representatives from the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), DOH, Philippine Health Insurance Corporation, and Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office. These one-stop shops aim to support impoverished patients in reducing their hospital costs to the least possible amount. Go is the principal author and sponsor of Republic Act No. 11463 or the Malasakit Centers Act of 2019, which institutionalized the Malasakit Centers program. To date, 159 operational centers have helped more than seven million Filipinos nationwide, according to DOH. He likewise reiterated his commitment to support the establishment of more Super Health Centers across the country, considering how they can significantly help reduce hospital occupancy rates while bringing government medical services closer to the grassroots. Services offered in Super Health Centers include database management, out-patient, birthing, isolation, diagnostic (laboratory: x-ray and ultrasound), pharmacy, and ambulatory surgical unit. Other available services are eye, ear, nose, and throat (EENT) service, oncology centers, physical therapy and rehabilitation centers, and telemedicine. Go also principally sponsored and is one of the authors of Republic Act No. 11959, also known as the Regional Specialty Centers Act, which was signed into law by President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos, Jr. on August 24. The law mandates the establishment of regional specialty centers within existing DOH regional hospitals. It stands as a testament to the commitment of the government to uplift the nation's health infrastructure. Go then emphasized that the ultimate goal is to bring both vital information and actual services closer to the Filipino people. "We have to bridge the gap. Let's make healthcare not just something people hear about but something they can actually experience and benefit from," he concluded. Engganyuhin po natin silang mag-basketball at mag-volleyball. Get into sports and stay away from drugs,” he urged. The province of Capiz, in the eastern part of Panay Island, held a Pride event on 22 April, as part of its annual festival, Capiztahan, which happened from 14 April to 1 May this year. Ki-ày: The Capiz Pride March was organized by the provincial government of Capiz together with several LGBTQI+ groups. It is considered as the first Pride event to be supported by the local government. Before this, however, the LGBTQ+ community of the province mounted the Capiz Pride March and Festival on 1 December 2019 in observance of World AIDS Day, which some consider as the first Pride march in the Western Visayan province. The 22 April affair was highlighted by Duag Balangaw: A Parade of Rainbow, which started on Immaculate Heart of Mary Avenue and ended at the Pueblo de Panay Technopark in Lawa-an, Roxas City. LGBTQ+ groups from 13 municipalities and the capital, Roxas City, participated in the parade with their own colorful floats and street-dancing contingents in vibrant costumes. Contingents from Sapian, Panay and President Roxas were judged as having the best performances. Senator Christopher "Bong" Go on Thursday, 11 May, dispatched his team to Naawan and Jasaan, Misamis Oriental to provide assistance to residents in need. In a video message, Go called upon his fellow Filipinos to unite and support one another during these difficult times. Held at the Senior Citizen Building in Naawan and the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office in Jasaan, Go’s team handed out vitamins, shirts, masks, and snacks to a total of 100 residents. They also provided shoes, and balls for basketball and volleyball to select individuals. The Department of Social Welfare and Development also extended financial aid to the indigents. Chair of the Senate Committee on Health, Go encouraged the residents to seek medical assistance from the Malasakit Centers located at Northern Mindanao Medical Center and J.R. Borja General Hospital in Cagayan de Oro City. Malasakit Centers bring together representatives from the DSWD, Department of Health, Philippine Health Insurance Corporation, and Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office. These one-stop shops aim to support impoverished patients in reducing their hospital bills to the least possible amount. The Malasakit Centers program was initiated by Go in 2018 and was later institutionalized under the Malasakit Centers Act of 2019, which he primarily authored and sponsored. To date, there are 157 Malasakit Centers in the Philippines that have helped over seven million poor and indigent patients nationwide, according to the DOH. Go, who serves as Vice Chair of the Senate Committee on Finance, likewise supported the flood control projects in Magsaysay, Medina, and Gingoog City; construction of multipurpose buildings in Initao, Magsaysay, and Gingoog City; rehabilitation of local roads in Balingasag, Initao, Lagonglong, Laguindingan, Libertad, Lugait, Magsaysay, Manticao and El Salvador City; and construction of water systems in Balingasag and Jasaan. He was also instrumental in the construction of a drainage system and flood control structures along the Iponan River, the acquisition of several ambulance units and fire and dump trucks, and the construction of a three-story multipurpose building in Barangay 33 in Cagayan de Oro City. On 10 May, Go’s team also aided residents in Gingoog City where they distributed similar assistance. They, likewise, aided impoverished communities in the town of Gitagum on 29 April. SBG aids indigents and monitors projects in Talavera, Nueva Ecija
Senator Bong Go, chair of the Senate Committee on Health and Demography, conducted a monitoring visit of the Malasakit Center at the Talavera General Hospital in Talavera, Nueva Ecija on Thursday, May 11, to personally assess its operations and ensure that indigent patients are given the assistance they need. The said Malasakit Center was launched on 6 August 2021 and is one of the 157 centers operating nationwide. In his speech, Go expressed his gratitude and admiration for the healthcare and non-healthcare personnel at the hospital, acknowledging their sacrifices and dedicated service, particularly during the challenging times of the pandemic. "Huwag kayong magpasalamat sa amin. Sa totoo lang, kami ang dapat na magpasalamat sa inyo dahil binigyan n'yo kami ng pagkakataon na makapagserbisyo sa inyo. Maraming salamat sa inyong lahat. Taos puso ang aking pagpapasalamat sa inyong lahat," Go expressed. The senator reiterated his commitment to providing support to the best of his capacity to hopefully ensure the sustained operation of Malasakit Centers across the country. He emphasized that the program has already made a significant difference in the lives of impoverished and underprivileged patients throughout the nation. Over seven million Filipinos have benefitted so far from the program, according to the DOH. A brainchild of Go, the Malasakit Centers program was institutionalized in 2019 under Republic Act No. 11463, which the senator principally authored and sponsored. These are one-stop shops for medical assistance programs by concerned agencies, including the Department of Social Welfare and Development, the Department of Health, the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation, and the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office, that aim to reduce patients’ hospital expenses to the lowest amount possible. Apart from TGH, there are also other Malasakit Centers in Nueva Ecija province, particularly at Eduardo L. Joson Memorial Hospital and Dr. Paulino J. Garcia Memorial Research and Medical Center, both in Cabanatuan City. Meanwhile, Go and his team extended relief to 79 patients and 406 front liners, including security guards, utilities, and hospital staff, such as grocery packs, masks, snacks, and vitamins. Before the visit to TGH, Go carried out an inspection of the Talavera Bridge in the town. As Vice Chair of the Committee on Finance, he played a vital role in securing the funding for the construction of the bridge and demonstrating his support for local infrastructure development in Nueva Ecija. Go has also supported numerous initiatives to help promote economic gain and improve public service delivery in the province. Among these is the construction of the Amphitheater located at the Talavera National High School; the rehabilitation of roads in Cabiao, General Tinio, Pantabangan, Zaragoza, and Cabanatuan City; construction of flood mitigation structures in General Tinio, Quezon, San Antonio, and Zaragoza; construction of multipurpose buildings in Gabaldon, Sta. Rosa and Cabanatuan City; completion of the DR. PJGMRMC in Cabanatuan City; reconstruction of the Llanera public market; rehabilitation of the Baloc public market; and installation of streetlights in Zaragoza. On the same day, Go inspected the Super Health Center in the town of Llanera and attended the inauguration of the public wet market there, both of which he advocated and supported. He then provided aid to indigents in the town. The post SBG aids indigents and monitors projects in Talavera, Nueva Ecija appeared first on Daily Tribune......»»
Bong Go aids indigents in Agusan del Sur
The Office of Senator Bong Go conducted separate relief activities for indigent communities in La Paz and Talacogon towns in Agusan del Sur. The distributions are part of the senator's efforts to help address the needs of disadvantaged Filipinos in the country. During the relief activities, Go's outreach staff extended aid to a total of 300 underprivileged residents at the Talacogon municipal gym and La Paz municipal hall. The assistance provided included shirts, masks, vitamins, and snacks. Additionally, select beneficiaries were given caps, shoes, cellular phones, as well as balls for basketball and volleyball. Moreover, the Department of Social Welfare and Development sent a team to provide financial aid to the residents through its Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation program. Go, who chairs the Senate Committee on Health and Demography, then urged the beneficiaries to prioritize their well-being and follow basic health protocols. He encouraged those with health concerns to seek assistance from the government through the Malasakit Center located at Democrito O. Plaza Memorial Hospital in Prosperidad. The Malasakit Centers Act of 2019 was principally authored and sponsored by Go in the Senate. These centers are one-stop shops that streamline access to medical assistance programs offered by different government agencies such as the DSWD, Department of Health, Philippine Health Insurance Corporation, and Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office. The senator also highlighted the construction of Super Health Centers in five municipalities in Agusan del Sur. These municipalities include Esperanza, Bayugan, Sibagat, Santa Josefa, and Trento. More Super Health Centers will be strategically located in particularly far-flung communities, as assessed by DOH, to ensure that Filipinos have more convenient access to basic health services, such as database management, out-patient care, birthing facilities, isolation areas, and diagnostic services such as laboratory tests, x-rays, and ultrasound. Through the concerted efforts of lawmakers, the Health Facilities Enhancement Program of the DOH has adequate funding for the establishment of 307 Super Health Centers in 2022 and 322 more in 2023. Go, as Vice Chair of the Senate Committee on Finance, has been actively supporting the province of Agusan del Sur. Among his efforts include securing necessary funds for various infrastructure projects in the province, including the construction or concreting of local roads in Bayugan City, Bunawan, Esperanza, La Paz, San Luis, and Veruela; construction of multipurpose buildings in Bayugan City and San Luis; construction of evacuation centers in Loreto and Talacogon; construction of riverbank protection structures for the Ihawan River in Loreto; improvement of the Adlayan Riverbank in San Francisco; installation of reinforced concrete pipe culvert with pavement widening in Trento; and purchase and installation of solar street lights in Esperanza. Other major projects he supported are the construction of a new public market and slaughterhouse in Bunawan, the development of the Sibagat public park, the acquisition of ambulances for the local governments of La Paz and San Luis, and the acquisition of dump trucks for the local governments of San Francisco and San Luis. On 18 April, Go’s team also assisted struggling residents in Santa Josefa and Trento towns. On 19 and 20 April, his office likewise mounted a series of relief activities for underserved communities in Esperanza, Prosperidad, Sibagat, and Bayugan City. Currently, there are 157 operational centers that have assisted over seven million Filipinos nationwide, according to the DOH. Go also aims to bring the government’s public health services closer to Filipinos as he supported the construction of Super Health Centers in Binuangan, Balubal, San Simon, Libertad, Balingasag, Claveria, Initao, Tagoloan, and Gingoog City. To further improve the province’s public service delivery, Go, as Vice Chair of the Senate Committee on Finance, supported several infrastructure projects, including flood control projects in Magsaysay, Medina, and Gingoog City; construction of multipurpose buildings in Initao, Magsaysay, and Gingoog City; rehabilitation of local roads in Baliangao, Balingasag, Balingoan, Initao, Lagonglong, Laguindingan, Libertad, Lugait, Magsaysay, Manticao and El Salvador City; and construction of water systems in Balingasag and Jasaan. He was also instrumental in the funding for the construction of a drainage system and flood control structures along the Iponan River, the acquisition of several ambulance units and fire and dump trucks, and the construction of a three-story multipurpose building in Barangay 33 in Cagayan de Oro City. “Ako po bilang inyong senador, asahan niyo po na ako ay tutulong sa abot ng aking makakaya. Huwag po kayong magpasalamat sa akin, ako po ang dapat magpasalamat sa inyo dahil binigyan niyo ho ako ng pagkakataon na pagsilbihan po kayong lahat,” he concluded.
