SBG attends Super Health Center groundbreaking in Naga City
Sen. Bong Go attended the groundbreaking ceremony of the Super Health Center in Naga City, Camarines Sur on Saturday, 3 June. In his speech, Go highlighted pressing need to establish additional health facilities across the country to address the ever-increasing medical needs of Filipinos. The said groundbreaking was also witnessed by local officials, led by Naga City Mayor Nelson Legacion and acting Vice Mayor Jess Albeus, among others. “Ang Super Health Center po is a medium type of a polyclinic, mas maliit sa ospital, mas malaki po sa rural health unit at pwede pa po itong i-expand ng LGU. Halimbawa, plano ni Mayor (Legacion) na lagyan ng dialysis machine, pwede n’ya itong lagyan at iba pang medical services,” Go explained in an ambush interview after the event. “At isa po ito sa pamamaraan na ilapit natin ang serbisyo medikal sa ating mga kababayan. Ang mga buntis, hindi na kailangang pumunta sa ospital. Pagpapabakuna, pwede na rin po diyan sa Super Health Center at ang malaking tulong nito, ang ayaw magpabakuna laban sa tigdas, measles, mas mailalapit natin sa kanila, kasi ‘yung iba ayaw kasi napakalayo ng mga health facilities,” he cited. Continuing his message, Go, as Chair of the Senate Committee on Health and Demography, stressed that the construction of the Super Health Center in Naga City is just the beginning and that more initiatives must be undertaken to bridge the healthcare gap in the country. During his visit, he also provided assistance to 1,500 struggling residents at Jesse Robredo Coliseum. The residents received grocery packs, masks, vitamins, snacks and shirts while some of them received bicycles, mobile phones, shoes, watches, and balls for basketball and volleyball. The Department of Social Welfare and Development also extended financial assistance. The post SBG attends Super Health Center groundbreaking in Naga City appeared first on Daily Tribune......»»
Bong Go condemns killing of radio broadcaster in Oriental Mindoro
In response to the killing of a radio broadcaster in Calapan, Oriental Mindoro, Sen. Bong Go expressed his strong condemnation of the act and called for justice to be served. The victim, Cresenciano Bunduquin, a well-known radio broadcaster and commentator, was shot dead by two assailants while opening his sari-sari store on 5 May. One of the suspects, Narciso Ignacio Guntan, died after Bunduquin’s son chased and hit the motorcycle that the former was driving. However, the gunman responsible for the shooting fled the crime scene and has been evading capture. Authorities said that they have already identified the gunman and will soon be apprehended. During an ambush interview after personally aiding indigents in Naga City, Camarines Sur on 3 June, Go recognized the sacrifices made by media workers who often put themselves on the frontlines to bring news to the public. He stressed the importance of delivering justice for the slain journalist and called on the Philippine National Police, the National Bureau of Investigation, and all law enforcement agencies to swiftly investigate the case and hold the perpetrators accountable. "Kinokondena po natin ito, 'yung pagpatay po ng mga media na nagtatrabaho lang po. Sila nga po ang nagdadala ng balita," Go stressed. "Alam n'yo, panahon ng pandemya, panahon ng bagyo, sila po ang nagdadala ng magagandang balita at accurate information," he added. Police authorities have stated that Bunduquin did not receive any death threats prior to the incident. Additionally, investigators have disclosed that the suspect who was killed had prior involvement in drug-related activities. Kuya Bong pushes advanced nursing education measure
Recognizing the pivotal role of nurses in healthcare and in a move to elevate the nursing profession in the country, Senator Christopher Lawrence “Bong” Go continues to advocate for measures that will ensure the welfare of healthcare workers and improve their working conditions. In an ambush interview after his visit to Naga City, Camarines Sur on Saturday, Go stressed that healthcare workers deserve fair remuneration that reflects their invaluable service as he pushed for the provision of benefits and incentives to help nurses and encourage them to remain in the country. To recall, Go authored and co-sponsored RA 11466, or the SSL5 in 2019 to give nurses and other civilian government employees their fifth round of salary increases broken down in tranches. In the same year, he also ensured that enough funding was allotted for the implementation of the 2019 Supreme Court decision that upheld Section 32 of the Philippine Nursing Act of 2002, which sets the minimum salary grade of the Nurse I position at SG-15. In addition, the senator continues to push for the advancement of nursing education through his proposed Advanced Nursing Education bill. Go stressed that the nursing education in the country has long been acknowledged as a strong foundation for producing competent and compassionate healthcare professionals. However, with the rapidly changing healthcare landscape, it has become crucial to update the curriculum and training methods to meet the demands of modern healthcare practices while encouraging nurses to serve their communities and stay in the country. The proposed “Advanced Nursing Education Act of 2022” seeks to protect and improve the nursing profession by instituting measures that will result in relevant nursing education for better career prospects and a dignified existence for our nurses. Go’s proposed measure will require the establishment of standard basic and graduate programs for nursing education, to be established in Commission on Higher Education-accredited institutions of higher learning. Under the basic program, students will be mandated to undergo community integration and immersion to encourage them to work in various communities. Meanwhile, a graduate program will be built on the experiences and skills of the nurses towards mastery, expertise and leadership in practice, research and education. He likewise pushed for the provision of benefits and incentives to help nurses and encourage them to remain in the country. “Alam n’yo, nu’ng nakaraang 18th Congress, isa po ako sa author at co-sponsor po ng Salary Standardization 5. At nagkaroon tayo ng SSL 5 kung saan po itinaas ang sweldo ng lahat ng government workers. At hopefully po magkaroon pa sana ng SSL 6 para po matulungan pa ang ating mga government workers na tumaas pa ang sweldo, including na po itong mga (public) healthcare workers natin,” cited Go. Go authored and co-sponsored RA 11466, or the SSL5 in 2019 to give nurses and other civilian government employees their fifth round of salary increases broken down in tranches. In the same year, he also ensured that enough funding was allotted for the implementation of the 2019 Supreme Court decision that upheld Section 32 of the Philippine Nursing Act of 2002, which sets the minimum salary grade of the Nurse I position at SG-15. So, the more na dapat nating tulungan ang ating mga nurses,” Go emphasized. “At mayroon din po akong nai-file sa Senado itong Advance Nursing Education Bill para po sa karagdagang curriculum upang mahikayat natin silang magtrabaho dito sa ating bansa, sa Pilipinas. Maisama po ang iba pang curriculum, ‘yung community integration at immersion po, karagdagang kaalaman din iyon,” he explained. Go’s proposed measure will require the establishment of standard basic and graduate programs for nursing education, to be established in Commission on Higher Education (CHED)-accredited institutions of higher learning. Under the basic program, students will be mandated to undergo community integration and immersion to encourage them to work in various communities. Meanwhile, a graduate program will be built on the experiences and skills of the nurses towards mastery, expertise and leadership in practice, research and education. ### The post Bong Go fights for nurses’ welfare appeared first on Daily Tribune......»»
