PH nears deal on ‘panda’ bonds

The Philippines' first issuance of $200 million worth of renminbi-denominated panda bonds in China moved a step closer after the government signed the underwriting agreement with Bank of China.   Also, with the tax treatment on the transaction already clarified by the Bureau of Internal Revenue, the government is on track to launch it by Nov. 27, National Treasurer Rosalia V. de Leon told the Inquirer yesterday.   Under Revenue Memorandum Circular No. 95-2017 issued by Internal Revenue Commissioner Caesar R. Dulay on Nov. 10, so-called repo transactions will be exempt from documentary stamp tax (DST). Pinoy boxer Jerwin Ancajas gears up for third defense of IBF Super Flyweight title

Reigning IBF Super Flyweight world champion Jerwin 'Pretty Boy' Ancajas looks to defend his title for a third time this weekend when he takes on unbeaten Irishman Jamie Conlan at the SSE Arena in Belfast on Saturday, November 18th.  The first world champion to come out of Manny Pacquiao's MP Promotions banner, Davao Del Norte's Ancajas has emerged as one of the best young boxers in the country.  With just one defeat in his 28 professional fights, Ancajas is riding a 14-fight winning streak, which includes a title win over McJoe Arroyo in 2016. Earlier this year, Ancajas introduced himself to an even bigger audience after stopping Japan's Teiru Kinoshita via a seventh-round TKO in the co-main event of the Manny Pacquiao-Jeff Horn card in Brisbane.  Up next for Ancajas will be 19-0 Conlan.  The 31-year old Belfast native will be fighting in front of a hometown crowd as he goes for his first attempt at a world championship.  An interested observer of this matchup will be ALA Boxing's Jonas Sultan, who's widely regarded as the number one contender for the IBF Super Flyweight crown after outpointing former two-division world champion John Riel Casimero at Pinoy Pride 42 in Cebu earlier this year.  Should Ancajas successfully defend his crown, we could be in for a historic All-Filipino world championship matchup in the future. .....»»
