Why Dingdong considers new flick with Anne ‘a big thing’

Almost 20 years after they first---and last---worked together, Dingdong Dantes will reunite onscreen with his former "T.G.I.S." costar, Anne Curtis. But this time around, it's for a romantic film. The coming film, titled "Aya and Sid (Not a Love Story)," is Dingdong and Anne's first project together in which they play romantically involved characters. "It's such a big thing. I appreciate things like this," said Dingdong, who, in his two decades in show biz, has never shot a movie overseas---until now. It was also amusing, he added, to see just how much Anne has grown through the years. "Nakakatuwa ... It was one of the first big projects of our careers here in the industr...Keep on reading: Why Dingdong considers new flick with Anne ‘a big thing’.....»»

Families keep trying to cross US-Mexico border, wall or no wall

MCALLEN, Texas --- Maria Orbelina Cortez says she fled El Salvador for the US after her husband attacked her and knocked a pan of scalding oil onto her youngest son's head. After quietly planning for months, she took the 3-year-old boy and his two brothers and headed north without telling her husband. As she spoke in the yard of a Catholic Charities shelter in South Texas, the boy played nearby. He had a hairless scar on top of his head in the shape of a jagged, capital "T." "I will always feel culpable," said Orbelina, 30. "Always." President Donald Trump's push for a $5.7 billion wall --- a demand that triggered the longest government shutdown in history --- is unlikely on...Keep on reading: Families keep trying to cross US-Mexico border, wall or no wall.....»»

ABL: New guys help Alab Pilipinas re-assert mastery over Thais

The cast of characters may have changed, but it was the same old story as Alab Pilipinas and Thailand’s Mono met for the first time in the 2018-2019 Asean Basketball League. Riding Renaldo Balkman and new guys PJ Ramos and Ethan Alvano in the endgame, the Filipinos got the better of the visiting Vampire once more in a thrilling 110-100 triumph in overtime on Sunday at the Sta. Rosa Multi-Purpose Complex. A season ago, the Philippines bested the Thais for the championship. Just like that time, Balkman and Ray Parks Jr. played big roles for Alab in this one. Only, they also had newcomers Ramos, Alvano, and Caelan Tiongson right there with them. In fact, it was Balkman, Alvano, and Ramos who got together for the 12-7 run that increased a one-point edge to a 102-96 lead inside the last two minutes in overtime. Parks Jr.’s floater then put the icing on the cake that was the Filipinos’ eighth win in 10 games. It was also their first back-to-back wins in the new year which had seen them go through struggles. With the gutsy win, though, the Philippines has now strengthened its stranglehold on the league lead. --- Follow this writer on Twitter, @riegogogo......»»

Shyamalan connects film worlds with ‘Glass’

In 2000, the world got hooked on M. Night Shyamalan's intriguing story of security guard-turned-protector David Dunn (Bruce Willis) in "Unbreakable." In 2016, the filmmaker took the cinemas by storm with the thrilling sinister personalities of Kevin Wendell Crumb (James McAvoy) in "Split." Now, he connects both of his supernatural narratives in an all-new comic-book-inspired thriller, "Glass." "I've never done anything like this. It was really different for me to kind of bring characters from two different movies that I had invented earlier and then create a third version," Shyamalan shares.
