Gov’t, communist rebels move closer to truce

Government and communist rebel negotiators are on the verge of resuming formal peace talks after the two sides adopted an interim truce agreement that stopped short of requiring insurgents to lay down their arms.   The rebels, however, must end or suspend their collection of "revolutionary tax."   The provisional agreement, according to Inquirer sources, was based on a broad outline of a bilateral ceasefire that the negotiating panels of the government and National Democratic Front of the Philippines (NDFP) had agreed upon as early as last year.   The two-page document was signed on April 5, 2017, at The Hague by Labor Secretary Silvestre Be...Keep on reading: Gov’t, communist rebels move closer to truce.....»»

McGregor rematch? Floyd Mayweather Jr. isn t thinking about that right now

It's been nine months since boxing superstar Floyd Mayweather Jr. made his return to the ring after a brief retirement to face off against UFC star Conor McGregor in the biggest boxing event of 2017.  After taking out McGregor in the tenth round for his 50th career victory, "Money" went back to retirement and it looks like it's going to stay that way.  The 41-year old five-division world champion arrived in Manila early Tuesday morning and during his brief media scrum upon arrival, was asked about his thoughts on a couple of rematches, including another potential mega-money bout with McGregor.  Safe to say, Money Mayweather Jr. is too busy living his best life to be concerned about any rematch.  "As of right now, I'm touring around the world, doing different things, embracing my fans, getting love from all around the world, right now I'm just travelling." Mayweather Jr. said. "I don't know what the future holds, but as of right now, I'm retired." The Philippines is the latest stop in Mayweather's world tour, having been in Dubai, Singapore, Bali, and Bangkok before landing here.  "I'm not thinking about fighting right now." added Mayweather Jr.  Clearly.  The sure-fire boxing Hall of Famer did however, continue his tease of dabbling in mixed martial arts.  Earlier this year, Mayweather Jr. relased a number of teases wherein he was seen stepping inside the an MMA cage.  A month later, he said that he was working towards applying for an MMA license.  Tuesday morning, talking to ABS-CBN News' Dyan Castillejo, he again mentioned stepping crossing over into the MMA world.  "If I do happen to come back, it'll be in an Octagon. If I did, but right now, I'm not worried about the Octagon or the boxing ring." So does this mean that we just might see Money May do some MMA in the future?  Only time will tell. .....»»
