October is A’TIN month as SB19 celebrates 5 amazing years
P-pop mega-group SB19 has claimed October as theirs ahead of their fifth anniversary, with multiple activities that will keep their fans, known as A’TIN, bristling with joy and excitement. “Kalahating dekada na tayo A’TIN! Maraming salamat sa patuloy na pagsuporta at pagtangkilik sa aming musika at mga kwento (We’re half a decade, A’TIN! Thank you for continuing to support our music and our journey.) And with that, we’ve prepared a month-long celebration para sa inyo. Mark your calendars for all these activities you won’t want to miss!,” said the group’s announcement online. For starters, SB19 revealed that they will be launching a podcast called Atin Atin lang on 9 October, with new episodes to be released every Monday. Apart from the podcast, which promises “heart-to-heart and intimate talks” with the group’s members Josh, Stell, Pablo, Justin and Ken, a new episode of their ardently followed web series Show Break 5 will drop 19 October. Biggest milestone But the biggest milestone the P-pop powerhouse unveiled was the launch of their own company, IZ Entertainment, which they presented to the public in a livestream on 1 October. “Siguro five years ago when SB19 was just starting, together we had a dream: That dream was to have Filipino music, Filipino talent, the whole Filipino culture pinned on the world map,” Pablo, the group’s leader and now CEO of IZ Entertainment, said. In June, SB19 transitioned to being a self-managed group. “It all started as a crazy idea during trainee days. Nagbibiruan kami na ‘Balang araw, gagawa tayo ng sarili nating company, our own management (We were just telling each other in jest that we would create our own company.) We’ll [choose] the people na pagkakatiwalaan namin,” Josh said. And now look where they are — the group that started from nothing, busking on the side of malls to sparse crowds and slaving away at endless training days for four years, the owners of their own newly minted entertainment company and the undisputed P-pop Kings increasingly acknowledged and acclaimed around the world. The group, in fact, is set to resume their world tour with new performances announced for Asia after successful, sold-out concerts in the Philippines, Canada and the United States. The boy band will be performing at Singapore’s Capitol Theatre on 15 November, Thailand’s KBank Siam Pic-Ganesha Theatre on 19 November and Dubai’s Sheikh Rashid Auditorium on 24 November, with more tour dates to be announced in the future. Josh also announced that they will represent the country at the ASEAN-Korea Music Festival Round on 21 October in Indonesia, performing alongside popular K-pop idols and artists from ASEAN countries. Fan meet The month-long celebration will not be complete, of course, without a special gift for their hometown fans. This time, the quintet said that instead of a concert for Filipino A’TIN, they will host an intimate fan meet, called Half a Decade Celebration, on 28 October at the SMART Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City. “Magkakaroon po kami ng fan meet na puno ng malulupit at masasaya na performances, fun games at interactions kasama kayong A’Tin,” Ken said. Fans joining them at the fan meet will go home with special-edition merchandise and cherished “experiences” with the group, added Justin, promising a more up-close and personal encounter than is usually experienced in their concerts. With the global-level career milestones the group has achieved in five years, SB19’s members have nothing but gratitude for everyone supporting them. “Gusto ko magpasalamat sa A’TIN for supporting us ever since. Kung hindi dahil sa inyo, hindi mangyayari ang ginagawa natin ngayon (If not for all of you, we won’t be able to do what we’re doing now),” Justin said. “We believe that we’re just starting. This is just the starting line for all of us, so we’re proud and I hope na proud rin kayo sa amin (We’re proud [of what we’ve accomplished], and I hope you’re also proud of us),” Ken added. A’TIN can only nod and say: We are, Ken. We sure are. The post October is A’TIN month as SB19 celebrates 5 amazing years appeared first on Daily Tribune......»»

Iglesia ni Cristo celebrates109th anniversary
The Iglesia Ni Cristo celebrates today its 109th founding anniversary, with the global church holding thanksgiving services around the world, at local churches, and its cavernous headquarters in Quezon City. [caption id="attachment_162704" align="aligncenter" width="1920"] Iglesia Ni Cristo members prepare for service inside the Central Temple located along Commonwealth Avenue in Quezon City. | photograph courtesy of lakansining.wordpress.com[/caption] This year’s celebrations are expected to mirror last year’s festivities, with the primary thanksgiving service held at the INC Central Temple. Expected to lead the ceremony is Executive Minister Eduardo V. Manalo, who last year expressed an unbounded thankfulness to God for the benefits bestowed upon the Church during the last 108 years. In his speech, Manalo said the Church had been able to develop and thrive due to God’s direction and protection. He asserted the Church was devoted to carrying out its mission of preaching the gospel of Jesus Christ throughout the world. “We are grateful to God for the many blessings that He has bestowed upon us,” Manalo said. “We are also grateful for the opportunity to serve Him and spread His word throughout the world.” Thanksgiving services were also held outside the Philippines, including in the United States, Canada, Australia, Japan and the United Kingdom. Members of the Church took the opportunity to renew their resolve to serve Him. President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., at the time recently sworn in after winning the 2022 presidential election, congratulated the INC on its anniversary and called on its over 10 million members to work together for the good of the country. In a message in Filipino, Marcos thanked the INC for supporting his administration and wished its executive minister, Ka Eduardo, and other leaders “enough strength, wisdom, and compassion.” “I am very grateful for your solidarity with the government and in promoting righteousness and peace in our country and other parts of the world,” Marcos said. The President also visited the INC Central Office in Quezon City, where he met with Manalo and other INC leaders. During the meeting, Marcos thanked Manalo and the INC community for their continuing support of his presidency. In the May 2022 elections, the INC endorsed the candidacies of Marcos and his running mate, Sara Duterte. In his message then, Marcos urged INC members to use their anniversary celebration as an opportunity to “recommit ourselves to the ideals of peace, unity, and progress. Let us work together to build a better future for our country,” he said. The INC is one of the largest Christian denominations in the Philippines, founded in 1914 by Felix Manalo. [caption id="attachment_162705" align="aligncenter" width="800"] Felix Manalo.[/caption] In addition to the Thanksgiving services, the Church celebrated its anniversary with a variety of events, including a youth festival, a blood donation drive, and a tree-planting project. Through the years, the Church has been well-known for its strong feelings of community and dedication to social work. Wellness center celebrates a decade of healing
A certain demographic of women who need support, healing, self-improvement or with fitness goals is drawn to ONELIFE, a center for Pilates and physical therapy. This year, ONELIFE has turned 10 years old, and to celebrate, the studio’s clientele made up of mostly women gathered together last 23 May at the studio’s Estancia Mall branch to look back at how their journey began. “Ten years ago, we started something small. We wanted a place for people to come and work on themselves without feeling intimidated, without feeling judged, without feeling insecure,” said an emotional Tanya Maria Aguila, founder of ONELIFE, during her speech at the company’s 10th-anniversary party. [caption id="attachment_137170" align="aligncenter" width="525"] Tanya Maria Aguila, founder of ONELIFE.[/caption] The party was packed with women in athleisure chic attire, sporting ONELIFE’s colors of blue, ecru, white and grey. It’s a community of glowing women, whose lives have changed and have become one in their sustainable goal: To feel good, become better and healthier—and support fellow women to achieve the same. ONELIFE is clearly driven by the need to help a Filipino woman with her unique needs. It understands that a woman’s body is ever-changing, coupled with various experiences, such as the transition to motherhood, aging and juggling parenthood and career, and how these factors affect her body. Not to mention how women look at other women on social media. “As a woman, it’s so difficult to really—with social media nowadays, right? It’s so difficult to keep up. And so we really wanted this place to become an even safer place for women,” mused Tanya. Tanya described how ONELIFE through the years has shaped into a place for a variety of programs or “care tracks”—be it weight loss, strengthening, toning, posture correction or general fitness. According to Tanya, they have the best licensed physical therapists in the country and internationally trained fitness coaches and consultants. ONELIFE also introduced a care track that focuses on pregnant women, which Tanya says is the first in the country. With studios scattered in major cities in the Metro — San Juan, Pasig and Makati — Tanya even plans to expand ONELIFE to reach and support more women. “What we want to do, really, is to expand here more and abroad. We really want to be a Filipino company that expands abroad. So we are hoping to expand where our physical therapists go to: Australia, the US, Canada and hopefully, later on, Asia,” she shared. If a woman has a physical injury or condition, ONELIFE designs a program to address these needs. “What we do here is actually very bespoke,” added Tanya. “It’s personalized every single time. So in terms of program, we really customize it each time. What people can expect is that when they come here, it’s always like a new program for them, depending on what they need at the moment.” “When you have a special condition, we ask for your doctor’s diagnosis and recommendation, and our PTs read that and they execute the program with a bit of a customized program for us as well,” she said. ONELIFE’s community of its women clientele, who had forged friendships over the years, advocate women empowerment and support. Tanya, the women’s leader and friend, on her company’s 10th year, still carries that fervent passion in her crusade for women’s well-being and betterment. “…We realized, to serve the people best, people like us who have special needs, who have special — you know, who need a little bit of support — we needed to specialize more and more. So we’re here. ONELIFE has evolved into a place that’s really for women. I dare say that we know women best,” Tanya concluded. Change starts in households
PhilUSA Corp. has established itself as the partner of every Filipino home with several iconic household brands, including Rhea, Mediplast, Apollo, Cleene, Babyflo, Albatross, and Gleam, among others. As the 100-percent Filipino-owned company celebrates its 65th year, PhilUSA looks to carve new meaning in its positioning as “Katuwang ng Bawat Tahanang Pilipino.” PhilUSA releases on social media a two-part video series, highlighting the company’s partnerships with like-minded organizations that advocate for clean water access and the reduction of ocean-bound plastic waste. “Layunin ng PhilUSA na itaas ang kaalaman sa sustainable sanitation at proper hygiene practices, pati na rin sa tamang pangangalaga ng ating kalikasan,” says Neogin Evangelista, PhilUSA Corp. president and general manager. “We want to empower and encourage Filipino households in bringing about positive change and making the world a safer and cleaner home for all of us.” “Katuwang sa Kalinisan” follows PhilUSA’s efforts in promoting basic access to clean water, in partnership with Manila Water Foundation. Data reveal that 50.3 million Filipinos still do not have access to water sanitation facilities and services as of 2020. To address this pressing issue, MWF has launched “WASH: Water Access, Sanitation, and Hygiene,” a program that promotes health and sanitation in marginalized communities. PhilUSA joins MWF in its mission to improve access to clean and potable water, as well as the promotion of proper hygiene practices in communities. “Katuwang sa Kalikasan” narrates the efforts of PhilUSA in helping save the environment. According to studies, the Philippines ranks as the 3rd largest contributor of marine plastic waste. In its bid to reduce ocean-bound plastic waste, PhilUSA joined hands with the Canada-based social enterprise Plastic Bank. The organization is committed to getting rid of ocean plastic while helping improve the lives of plastic collectors. In just a year, PhilUSA and Plastic Bank collected 2.5 million plastic bottles, preventing them from entering the ocean. The post Change starts in households appeared first on Daily Tribune......»»
