‘Bishop’ busted in Cavite anti-drug operation

  MANILA, Philippines --- A 38-year old man who claimed to be a bishop of the Sacred Order of Saint Michael (SOSM) was arrested during an anti-illegal drugs operation conducted by the Bacoor police and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Region 4 Thursday afternoon in Bacoor, Cavite. The Cavite Provincial Police Office said that one Bishop Richard Alcantara, and his companion, Perlito Alibay, 52, were not the actual targets of the anti-drug operation. Police were actually pursuing Fernando Dacuma, who sold a sachet of shabu to undercover officers but eluded arrest. Instead, police spotted Alcantara and Alibay sniffing shabu in Barangay Alima. CBCP: Bishop busted in drug operation not part of Catholic clergy  

MANILA, Philippines --- The Catholic Bishops' Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) has clarified that the bishop arrested in an anti-illegal drugs operation in Bacoor, Cavite is not a Catholic bishop. According to an official statement released on Friday, CBCP said that Bishop Richard Alcantara of the Sacred Order of Saint Michael (SOSM) congregation is also not a member of the conference. Law enforcers seize P244-M worth of shabu in Cavite

MANILA, Philippines --- Law enforcers seized about 36 kilograms of suspected crystal meth, locally known as shabu, worth around P244 million worth in Cavite. The operation was conducted by members of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG), the Cavite Police Provincial Office (CPPO), and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA). Arrested was Marlon Fonterez, an alleged member of the Sputnik Gang, according to a report from Radyo Inquirer.
