Bong Go lauds groundbreaking of Super Health Center in San Jose, Batangas
Senator Bong Go, chairperson of the Senate Committee on Health and Demography, stressed the importance of investing in healthcare infrastructure, with a particular focus on the establishment of Super Health Centers in far-flung communities. The senator cited why it is necessary to have a more holistic approach in bolstering the country’s health sector, saying, “Nakita naman natin ang naging epekto ng pandemya sa ating bansa. Kaya mas mabuting maging handa tayo... The more that we need to invest in our healthcare system.” The Super Health Center in San Jose is in addition to 12 other centers that will be established in strategic areas in the province. Under the 2022 national budget, Super Health Centers in the province were funded in San Pascual, Agoncillo, Calatagan, Lipa City, Malvar, Taysan, and Ibaan. In 2023, more centers were identified to be established in the towns of San Juan, Tingloy, Lian, and San Jose. In addition, two more Super Health Centers were funded in Lipa City. Through the collective efforts of Go, DOH, and fellow lawmakers, sufficient funds have been allocated for the establishment of 307 Super Health Centers in 2022 and 322 in 2023. “Magagamit ito sa pagkokonsulta and it will help decongest the hospitals. Pwede na pong gamutin dito — primary care, consultation, early detection of diseases — mas maganda po ‘yon para hindi na lumala ang sakit ng mga pasyente,” Go cited. By ensuring that every citizen, regardless of location or socioeconomic status, has access to quality healthcare services, the government can make significant strides toward achieving better healthcare coverage, Go said. In line with his commitment to safeguarding the well-being of Filipinos, Go offered assistance to beneficiaries in need of medical attention. He encouraged them to visit the Malasakit Centers at the Batangas Provincial Hospital in Lemery and Batangas Medical Center in Batangas City if they required government medical assistance. There are now 159 Malasakit Centers nationwide. Each acts as a one-stop shop for medical assistance programs where relevant agencies such as the Department of Social Welfare and Development, DOH, the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation, and the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office are housed under one roof to reduce patients' hospital expenses to the lowest possible amount. Lastly, Go cited the enactment of Republic Act 11959, also known as the Regional Specialty Centers Act which he principally sponsored and is one of the authors in the Senate. The law mandates the establishment of regional specialty centers within existing DOH regional hospitals. It stands as a testament to the commitment of the government to uplift the nation's health infrastructure and bring actual medical services closer to the Filipino people. "We have to bridge the gap. Let's make healthcare not just something people hear about but something they can actually experience and benefit from," he concluded. To further boost infrastructure development in the province, Go, vice chairperson of the Senate Committee on Finance, supported the construction of multipurpose buildings in Alitagtag, Batangas City, Ibaan, Lemery, Lipa City, Mabini, San Jose, San Juan, San Luis, San Nicolas, Santo Tomas, and Taal; the concretion of farm-to-market roads in Agoncillo, Laurel, Nasugbu, and Tuy; the acquisition of ambulance units in Ibaan and Lemery; and the acquisition of multipurpose vehicles in Lipa City and San Juan. Kuya Bong backs Vice Mayors’ League mission
Senator Christopher “Bong” Go recently expressed his support for the Vice Mayors’ League of the Philippines and its efforts of bringing government services closer to communities in need during the 3rd Quarter 2023 National Executive Board Meeting held at Dusit Thani Hotel, Davao City last Wednesday. The Vice Mayors’ League of the Philippines gathered in an assembly, bringing together vice mayors from various regions of the country as the meeting aimed to discuss vital issues and strategies to enhance the lives of Filipinos at the local level. Go commended the hard work and dedication of the vice mayors in their respective municipalities and acknowledged the challenges they face daily while striving to improve the lives of their constituents. The senator also emphasized that despite holding different positions in the government, they all share a common mission — to serve the Filipino people with dedication and compassion. “Our nation continues to face challenges, but with your steadfast commitment and strong leadership, we have made remarkable progress in enhancing local governance, improving public services, and fostering sustainable development. I am proud of the strides we have taken together to make our municipalities vibrant, inclusive, and forward-looking,” Go said in his video message. He then recognized the importance of fostering a strong partnership between national and local government officials, stressing that their collaborative efforts would result in more effective governance and improved public services. “I am confident that through our united efforts, we can continue to uplift the lives of our constituents and create lasting positive change. Let us remain steadfast in our commitment to public service, embodying the ideals of integrity, compassion, and innovation,” said the lawmaker. Earlier, Go filed Senate Bill 194, aptly titled the E-Governance Act which aims to establish an integrated and interconnected information and resource-sharing and communications network that spans national and local governments. If passed, it shall mandate the creation of an internal records management information system, an information database, and digital portals for the delivery of public services. The utilization of digital platforms and online systems streamlines administrative processes, simplifies public service delivery and improves citizen engagement. “Government should always be responsive to the demands of changing times. It is for this reason that I filed the proposed E-Governance Act,” Go said. As chair of the Senate Committee on Health, the lawmaker also stressed the importance of bringing public health services closer to communities through the help of local government units. Go continues push for countryside development
Senator Christopher “Bong” Go has initiated several key infrastructure projects in Catbalogan, Samar in line with his commitment to help pave the way for development and progress in the area through continued collaboration with the local government led by Gov. Sharee Ann Tan. The senator’s support in these initiatives as vice chairperson of the Senate Committee on Finance was highlighted by his presence during the Adlaw han Barangay 2023, a significant part of the Samar Day Celebration, on Friday, 11 August. One of these activities is the opening of the Tandaya Hall in Catbalogan City where Go participated in the ribbon-cutting ceremony together with Samar Governor Tan, Vice Governor Arnold Tan, BHW (Barangay Health Worker) Partylist Representestive Natasha Co, Catbalogan City Mayor Dexter Uy and other local officials. The inauguration was also witnessed by 24 mayors and vice mayors together with their councilors, and 951 barangay captains and their kagawads. Go was also instrumental in the construction of the New Catbalogan City Hall, a new Sports Complex, and the Lagundi-San Andres Access Road. These projects, all under construction, are poised to bring in unprecedented benefits to Samar. The new City Hall will provide a modern hub for governance, streamlining public service and administrative functions. The Sports Complex will offer recreational and athletic opportunities, fostering community engagement and youth development. The Lagundi-San Andres Access Road, once completed, will significantly improve connectivity within the region, reducing travel time, boosting local trade, and enhancing the transportation of goods and services. Last Saturday, 12 August, the senator reasserted his dedication to enhance the country’s ability to withstand disasters following the onslaught of typhoon “Egay” in various regions in Luzon. Go has previously introduced Senate Bill 188, also known as the Department of Disaster Resilience Bill, with the goal of creating a specialized agency devoted primarily to disaster risk reduction and management. This legislation aims to consolidate disaster management efforts to improve the Philippines’ ability to deal with future calamities efficiently. In another development, Go provided assistance to 27 fire victims at the Senior Citizen’s Building in Barangay Pojo, Bugasong, Antique also Saturday, even as he continued to advocate for better fire prevention efforts to ensure the safety and security of communities. Meeting between FPRRD and PBBM an occasion to come together—Bong Go
Senator Christopher “Bong” Go said the meeting between former president Rodrigo Duterte and incumbent President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos, Jr., marked a rare occasion where two leaders from different administrations come together. In an interview after his visit to Tuy, Batangas on Thursday, August 3, Go stressed the importance of the said meeting on the country's foreign relations and domestic political landscape. It can be recalled that Duterte just came back from a recent personal trip abroad, where he was given an opportunity to meet with Chinese President Xi Jinping. Go underscored the significance of such dialogues, stating that they foster a sense of continuity in governance and allow for the exchange of valuable experiences and wisdom between the two leaders. He added that the Philippines values its relations with China while upholding its sovereign rights and pursuing a rules-based approach in handling disputes in the West Philippine Sea. “I’m sure interest po ng Pilipino ang uunahin ni (dating) pangulong Duterte sa kanyang pakikipagpulong sa bansang Tsina. Kung ano po ang atin ay kanyang ipinaglalaban parati yan. Interes ng Pilipino — yun po ang dapat nating ipaglaban. Ang atin ay atin. What is ours is ours,” he said. Go said “kaya natutuwa po ako na siya mismo si (dating) pangulong Duterte ang bumisita kay Pangulong Bongbong Marcos para mag-usap po ang kasalukuyang Pangulo at dating Pangulo na dati pa namang magkaibigan po... kung ano po ang detalye (ng pag-uusap nila), hayaan na nating ang Palasyo ang maghayag nito.” Senator Alan Peter Cayetano, who served as secretary of the Department of Foreign Affairs under the Duterte administration, previously suggested the possibility of appointing Duterte as a special envoy to China in light of the former president's positive rapport with Chinese authorities. He argued that Duterte's capacity to earn the trust of both the Chinese government and his fellow Filipinos could make him a suitable option if Marcos desires it. Go said that with Duterte's unique communication style and his success in gaining China's confidence, he has consistently remained devoted to what is best for the Philippines. Bong Go lauds Super Health Center groundbreaking in Zamboanga City
Senator Christopher “Bong” Go, Chair of the Senate Committee on Health and Demography, emphasized the significance of investing in health infrastructure, particularly the establishment of Super Health Centers nationwide to bring basic medical services from the government closer to communities. In his video message during the groundbreaking ceremony of Zamboanga City Super Health Center in Barangay Manicahan on Friday, June 30, Senator Go highlighted the need for a comprehensive approach that focuses on bolstering the nation's healthcare system. Through such efforts, the country can better address healthcare challenges and ensure the well-being of its citizens, especially at the grassroots. “The more we should invest sa ating health care. The more na laanan natin ng pondo dahil hindi po natin alam kung ito na ba ang pinakahuling pandemya na darating sa ating buhay. Huwag na po sanang dumating. Sana po’y bumalik na tayo sa normal nating pamumuhay,” Go cited. Senator Go pointed out that Super Health Centers serve as hubs for basic healthcare delivery, providing a wide range of medical services to communities. Super Health Centers offer database management, out-patient, birthing, isolation, diagnostic (laboratory: x-ray, ultrasound), pharmacy, and ambulatory surgical unit. Other available services are eye, ear, nose, and throat (EENT) service; oncology centers; physical therapy and rehabilitation center; and telemedicine, where remote diagnosis and treatment of patients will be done. Through the collective efforts of fellow lawmakers, sufficient funds had were allocated under the Health Facilities Enhancement Program of the Department of Health for 307 Super Health Centers in 2022 and 322 in 2023. The senator emphasized that these Super Health Centers would cater to the needs of underserved areas, especially those lacking adequate healthcare infrastructure. By ensuring that every citizen has access to quality healthcare services, regardless of their location or socioeconomic status, the government can take significant strides towards achieving universal healthcare coverage, Go expressed. “Ngayon tatayuan na kayo ng inyong Super Health Center. Pwede diyan ang dental, laboratory, x-ray, at birthing, panganganak. Ang mga buntis pwede nang manganak diyan. Iyan ang Super Health Center,” the senator said. “Iyan ang pamamaraan na ilapit natin ang serbisyo medikal sa ating mga kababayan. Iyan ang Super Health Center,” he highlighted. In line with his priority of protecting the well-being of Filipinos, Go then offered to help any resident who may need medical attention. He encouraged them to visit the Malasakit Centers at the Zamboanga City Medical Center, Mindanao Central Sanitarium, and Labuan General Hospital. The Malasakit Centers program has successfully established 158 centers so far and helped more than seven million Filipinos nationwide. It brings together relevant agencies, including DOH, Department of Social Welfare and Development, Philippine Health Insurance Corporation, and Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office, to help reduce a patient’s hospital expenses to the lowest possible amount. He also continues to take significant steps in his commitment to improving healthcare accessibility for Filipinos by principally sponsoring Senate Bill No. 2212, otherwise known as the Regional Specialty Centers Act. The bill was passed before the session break and is now awaiting the approval of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. If the measure is enacted, in Mindanao, specialty centers will be established at Zamboanga City Medical Center, Northern Mindanao Medical Center in Cagayan de Oro City, Mayor Hilarion A. Ramiro Sr. Medical Center in Ozamis City, Southern Philippines Medical Center in Davao City, Davao Regional Medical Center in Tagum City, Cotabato Regional and Medical Center in Cotabato City, Caraga Regional Hospital Surigao City, Adela Serra Ty Memorial Medical Center in Tandag City, and Amai Pakpak Medical Center in Marawi City. Bong Go lauds mayors as he attends 2023 Mindanao LMP convention
Senator Christopher “Bong” Go attended the 2023 Mindanao League of Municipalities of the Philippines Convention on Saturday, 10 June, at Acacia Hotel, Davao City. Accompanied by Senator Robinhood Padilla, Go underscored the crucial role of public service in nation-building and highlighted his and Padilla's commitment to grassroots governance and their dedication to empowering local communities by bringing government services closer to those in need the most. “This gathering brings together the voices of municipal mayors from all regions throughout Mindanao to collectively address the pressing issues and seize the opportunities that lie ahead for our beloved region,” expressed Go. “Your dedication to your constituents, your steadfast resolve to address the unique challenges facing your communities, and your unwavering belief in the potential of Mindanao are truly inspiring,” he continued. The senator also expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to be among the dedicated local leaders who are at the forefront of driving progress in Mindanao. He emphasized the importance of effective governance and the tireless efforts required to address the needs of the people. “Galing ako sa mababa. Alam ko kung ano ang pinakaproblema sa pinakamababa. So salamat sa inyong pagserbisyo sa ating mga kababayan. Magkakasama tayo. Sino ba ang magtutulungan kung ‘di tayo lang, mga kapwa ko Pilipino,” he continued. Go then highlighted the need for strong collaboration between national and local governments, emphasizing the importance of a harmonious relationship to achieve sustainable development. He likewise stressed the significance of responsive and accountable governance, encouraging the local leaders to be proactive in addressing the challenges faced by their respective communities. “I understand the challenges you face—the need for sustainable infrastructure, the importance of peace and security, the quest for economic growth, and the pursuit of social progress. These are not easy tasks, but I firmly believe that by working together, we can achieve great things for Mindanao,” Go remarked. “Let me assure you that you are not alone in this journey. As your senator, I am committed to working hand in hand with you to champion the interests of Mindanao at the national level. I will continue to advocate for the necessary legislation and policies that will enable you to better serve your constituents and empower your local government units,” he asserted. Go then reiterated the urgent need to harness the potential of e-governance as he continues to push for Senate Bill No. 194, recognizing its potential to revolutionize the way government services are delivered to the people. According to the senator, by implementing digital platforms and tools, citizens can more easily access information, track government processes, and monitor the progress of projects. E-governance, also known as electronic governance, is the application of information and communication technology (ICT) to enhance the efficiency, transparency, and accessibility of government operations and services. The utilization of digital platforms and online systems streamlines administrative processes, simplifies public service delivery, and improves citizen engagement. The proposed E-Governance Act aims to establish an integrated and interconnected information and resource-sharing and communications network that spans national and local governments. It shall mandate the creation of an internal records management information system, an information database, and digital portals for the delivery of public services. “Government should always be responsive to the demands of changing times. It is for this reason that I filed the proposed E-Governance Act. Una ko na po itong nai-file noong panahon pa ng pandemya during the 18th Congress. Marami tayong natutunan noon kung paano mag-adapt sa panahon,” Go previously said. Earlier on the same day, Go, together with Padilla, personally extended support to impoverished residents of Pili, Camarines Sur, and attended the groundbreaking ceremony for the Super Health Center in Talisay, Camarines Norte, where they also offered aid to indigents. They also conducted a monitoring visit to the Malasakit Center at the Camarines Norte Provincial Hospital in Daet, Camarines Norte. Kuya Bong backs LGUs’ e-governance empowerment
Senator Christopher Lawrence “Bong” Go recently commended President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. for his forward-thinking approach as the President recently tasked the Department of Information and Communications Technology to enable local government units to adapt to the e-government system as part of the efforts to modernize government services and promote efficient governance. “The directive issued by President Marcos reflects his commitment to improving public service delivery and advancing the nation’s digital landscape. By leveraging technology and implementing e-governance, we can enhance government efficiency, promote transparency, and empower citizens with easier access to services,” said Go. In a sectoral meeting with DICT on 24 May, Marcos issued the directive to Secretary Ivan Uy and reminded them to ensure regular upgrades within the system. “Let’s capacitate our LGUs so they can adapt to the system,” said Marcos in his directive. “That’s really the essence of digitalization. Let’s be sure that we are able to upgrade this system. Set it up to get them ready, so they know how to operate it.” E-governance, also known as electronic governance, is the application of information and communication technology to enhance the efficiency, transparency and accessibility of government operations and services. The utilization of digital platforms and online systems streamlines administrative processes, simplifies public service delivery and improves citizen engagement. Meanwhile, the lawmaker stressed the urgent need to harness the potential of e-governance as he continues to push for Senate Bill 194 as he long advocated for the integration of digital solutions in government operations. During a public hearing conducted by the Senate Committee on Science and Technology on 22 May, Go — as one of the authors of the measure — highlighted the potential benefits of e-governance, such as faster processing times for permits and licenses, simplified online transactions, improved data security and enhanced accessibility. “Bureaucratic inefficiency has been one of the most persisting problems in government service for the longest time. People spend so much money, time, and energy just to get a simple document, submit an application for a permit, or simply access public information,” Go said. “Government should always be responsive to the demands of changing times. It is for this reason that I filed the proposed E-Governance Act,” he added. Echoing Marcos, the senator expressed his confidence that the government’s responsiveness to the needs of the people through the adaptation of e-governance would result in a more inclusive and efficient administration. “This bill mandates the government to establish an integrated and interconnected information and resource-sharing and communications network spanning the entirety of the national and local governments,” Go said. The proposed E-Governance Act aims to establish an integrated and interconnected information and resource-sharing and communications network that spans national and local governments. It shall also mandate the creation of an internal records management information system, an information database and digital portals for the delivery of public services. The bill also advocates for the digitization of paper-based workflows to achieve greater efficiency and transparency in public service delivery. Go acknowledged the role of the DICT in spearheading these efforts. “Doing so would bring the government closer to the people, bridge the gap in the delivery of various services, and provide avenues for our people to bring their grievances and concerns to the government. In the end, E-governance will result to better governance, and a government that is more responsive to the needs of our people,” said Go. ‘Prepare, coordinate, cooperate, save lives’ — Go tells frontline agencies
Senator Christopher ”Bong” Go, on Friday, 26 May, emphasized the importance of government preparedness and citizen awareness as Super Typhoon Betty entered the Philippine Area of Responsibility. With the potential for heavy rainfall and flooding, Go, during an ambush interview after attending the groundbreaking for the Super Health Center in Libertad, Misamis Oriental, called on the national government to coordinate with local government units to ensure the safety and well-being of affected communities.. “Nakikiusap po ako sa national government, sa DSWD (Department of Social Welfare and Development), preposition of goods kaagad at coordination with LGUs,” he added. Go stressed the significance of effective coordination with LGUs, saying, “Napakaimportante po ng coordination with LGUs dahil sila po ang nakakaalam kung saan dapat ilikas, saan 'yung safe na lugar, saan dapat 'yung evacuation center.” He also emphasized the need for the national government to be on top of the situation to guide citizens needing assistance. The senator also urged citizens not to be complacent and to adhere to government advisories. “Sa ngayon pa lang, huwag tayong magpakakumpiyansa. Habang papasok pa lang, may panahon po tayo na mag-prepare,” said Go. “Sumunod tayo sa paalala ng gobyerno. Sundin natin kung kailangan na lumikas. Umalis na sa mababang lugar, 'yung mga prone sa flooding dahil delikado 'yan,” he urged. The senator urged citizens to stay informed through reliable information sources and to heed the guidance of local officials and authorities. Go also stressed the necessity of LGUs having ready relief supplies, search and rescue teams, and appropriate equipment, including personnel trained in emergency response. The typhoon’s passing may result in significant rainfall, potentially causing flash floods and landslides, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration. The projected path of the storm indicates that it will be approximately 250 kilometers away from Batanes and the Babuyan Islands within the weekend. During the interview, Go also took the opportunity to push for his advocacy for the establishment of a Department of Disaster Resilience. “Yun po ang aking pinapangarap at hindi po ako titigil na isulong po ito. Sana po ay maging batas ito someday, itong Department of Disaster Resilience,” he said. Go emphasized the necessity of more proactive measures when dealing with natural calamities, reiterating his long-standing appeal for the establishment of the DDR through his proposed Senate Bill No. 188, a cabinet-level department dedicated to disaster response and mitigation efforts. “Hindi 'yung panay task force, task force ng pangalan ng typhoon. Eh ang problema n'yan kapag bagong administrasyon, mawawala na naman po ang task force. Kaya dapat Cabinet level para tuluy-tuloy po ang rehabilitasyon at makabalik sa normal ang apektadong mga komunidad,” concluded Go. Bong Go aids struggling residents in Misamis Oriental towns
Senator Christopher "Bong" Go on Thursday, 11 May, dispatched his team to Naawan and Jasaan, Misamis Oriental to provide assistance to residents in need. In a video message, Go called upon his fellow Filipinos to unite and support one another during these difficult times. Held at the Senior Citizen Building in Naawan and the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office in Jasaan, Go’s team handed out vitamins, shirts, masks, and snacks to a total of 100 residents. They also provided shoes, and balls for basketball and volleyball to select individuals. The Department of Social Welfare and Development also extended financial aid to the indigents. Chair of the Senate Committee on Health, Go encouraged the residents to seek medical assistance from the Malasakit Centers located at Northern Mindanao Medical Center and J.R. Borja General Hospital in Cagayan de Oro City. Malasakit Centers bring together representatives from the DSWD, Department of Health, Philippine Health Insurance Corporation, and Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office. These one-stop shops aim to support impoverished patients in reducing their hospital bills to the least possible amount. The Malasakit Centers program was initiated by Go in 2018 and was later institutionalized under the Malasakit Centers Act of 2019, which he primarily authored and sponsored. To date, there are 157 Malasakit Centers in the Philippines that have helped over seven million poor and indigent patients nationwide, according to the DOH. Go, who serves as Vice Chair of the Senate Committee on Finance, likewise supported the flood control projects in Magsaysay, Medina, and Gingoog City; construction of multipurpose buildings in Initao, Magsaysay, and Gingoog City; rehabilitation of local roads in Balingasag, Initao, Lagonglong, Laguindingan, Libertad, Lugait, Magsaysay, Manticao and El Salvador City; and construction of water systems in Balingasag and Jasaan. Go, Chair of the Senate Committee on Health and Demography, reminded the public to remain adherent to basic health protocols and prioritize their well-being, among others. He then mentioned that Democrito O. Plaza Memorial Hospital in Prosperidad houses a Malasakit Center where individuals with health concerns may seek assistance from the government to help cover their hospital expenses. The Malasakit Centers Act was principally authored and sponsored by Go in the Senate. “Nung unang panahon, marami sa mga kababayan natin ang kinakailangan pang lumabas ng ospital at pumila sa iba’t ibang ahensya ng gobyerno para humingi ng tulong. Ubos na panahon nila, ubos pa ang pera nila sa pamasahe,” said Go. ”Ngayon, hindi na nila kailangang gawin ‘yan. Kung may billing kayo sa ospital, puntahan niyo lang ang Malasakit Center at tutulungan kayo nito,” he continued. The senator likewise highlighted that necessary funds have been allocated for the construction of Super Health Centers in Esperanza, Bayugan, Sibagat, Santa Josefa, and Trento.
