On July 5, a boat carrying 105 tourists made global headlines when it capsized off the coast of the popular Thai holiday destination, Phuket, killing 47 Chinese passengers. The Phoenix was caught in a storm on its way back from Koh Racha and was repeatedly battered by large waves, causing it to flood and list to one side, The Straits Times reported. PILI, Camarines Sur --- A motorized banca carrying a 12 family members capsized in Buhi Lake in Buhi town, Camarines Sur province Sunday night, according to a police report. The boat sank at around 8:15 p.m. at the middle of the lake in the vicinity of Barangay Buena and caused the passengers to fall into the water. As of this writing, the cause of the incident is not yet known. Seven people were rescued, while three died, including a 3-year-old boy.
